ESG Senior Regulatory Change Analyst - London, United Kingdom - Vanguard

    Default job background
    Full time
    Description
You will have an exciting opportunity to help shape the build-out of Vanguard's ESG offer and keep pace with the challenges of regulatory change. ESG is a constantly evolving space, with regulators working to build transparency, combat greenwashing and support the financial sector in its net-zero transition.

This role will (i) help Vanguard assess the implications of ESG regulations, (ii) consider how to incorporate ESG considerations into Vanguard's investment management, products, and stewardship activities and (iii) ensure appropriate disclosure of these activities in reporting deliverables. Ultimately this role will fulfil the mandate to effectively implement ESG regulatory change across our European business.

    In this role you will:

  • Lead ESG change workstreams, analysing regulation to understand the key implications, and plan, schedule, coordinate, and manage activities required to deliver the ESG project.
  • Collaborate closely with ESG representatives across IMG (Investment Management Group), Stewardship, PRD (Portfolio Review Department), OGC (Office of the General Counsel), Data, Distribution and Technology teams to understand where change is required to meet European regulatory requirements.
  • Produce detailed documentation to record requirements and prepare executive-level communications to summarise the high-level impact.
  • Lead workshops to design implementation solutions to incorporate ESG considerations across the business.
  • Coach and support junior members of the team regarding best practice of business analysis and project management.
  • Develop, manage and execute project plans (working closely with programme managers) and define the roles and responsibilities of ESG stakeholders.
  • Benefit from coaching and mentorship from Vanguard Europe's senior management within the Finance organization.
  • Gain a detailed understanding of ESG across Vanguard and industry.
  • What it takes / qualifications:

  • Minimum of four years related work experience, with experience in ESG, leading regulatory analysis and project management highly desirable.
  • Experience in asset management highly desirable.
  • Interest in ESG and a passion for sustainability.
  • Diligent, with a high attention to detail.
  • Able to think critically and strategically, navigate ambiguity and identify interdependencies.
  • Effective communicator, able to articulate challenges and solutions simply and clearly.
  • Able to see and understand the big picture, while being able to deep-dive into the detail.
  • Able to build and develop strong relationships across diverse partner teams.
  • Highly organised, and good at managing and influencing stakeholders.
  • A self-starter, able to independently identify and progress workstreams.
  • Ambitious and eager to develop your career in the ESG space.
  • An inherent focus on strategic delivery with an ability to 'join the dots' across the organisation, especially against specific risk management, governance and board reporting requirements.
  • Special Factors

  • Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position.
  • This is a hybrid position and would require you to work in the office location Tuesday-Thursday.
  • About Vanguard

Vanguard is an investment company unlike any other. It was founded by Jack Bogle in the US in 1975 on a simple but ground-breaking idea: that an investment company should handle its funds solely in the interests of its clients. Jack helped bring investing to the masses with the index fund. Index funds do not pick individual shares or bonds to beat the market. They supervise the performance of the entire market. Or as Jack put it, "Don't look for the needle in the haystack. Just buy the haystack". We have stood for low-cost, uncomplicated investing ever since. Over the last 45 years people have come round to our way of thinking and more than 30 million investors worldwide now trust us with their money.

    Inclusion Statement

Vanguard's continued dedication to diversity and inclusion is firmly rooted in our culture. Every decision we make to best serve our clients, crew (internally employees are referred to as crew), and communities is guided by one simple statement: "Do the right thing."

We believe that a critical aspect of doing the right thing requires building diverse, inclusive, and highly effective teams of individuals who are as unique as the clients they serve. We empower our crew to contribute their distinct strengths to achieving Vanguard's core purpose through our values.

When all crew members feel valued and included, our ability to collaborate and innovate is amplified, and we are united in delivering on Vanguard's core purpose.

Our core purpose: To take a stand for all investors, to treat them fairly, and to give them the best chance for investment success.

We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. Please contact us to request accommodation.

INTERNAL CREW, CONTRACTOR & DIRECT APPLICATIONS ONLY

Please note, current suppliers and potential suppliers are not permitted to communicate with or contact or send or otherwise provide any speculative resumes to any department, business unit, subsidiary or affiliate of Vanguard, or any employee thereof, at any time unless expressly instructed or permitted by a member of Vanguard's HR department. For the avoidance of doubt, Vanguard will not pay any fees to a supplier or potential supplier in respect of any candidate unless Vanguard HR has either requested the referral or given its prior written consent to the referral. If you would like to partner with Vanguard Europe, please we will be in touch if we need further information and/or if we need additional support.

    How We Work

Vanguard has implemented a hybrid working model for the majority of our crew members, designed to capture the benefits of enhanced flexibility while enabling in-person learning, collaboration, and connection. We believe our mission-driven and highly collaborative culture is a critical enabler to support long-term client outcomes and enrich the employee experience.
