    Overview

    Experienced National Fleet and Equipment Manager opportunity at a progressive and inclusive water industry contractor.

    • £45-50,000 p/a dependant on experience

    What you'll be doing

    Reporting to the Head of Supply Chain (HOSC), the National Fleet and Equipment Manager will be responsible for managing the Fleet, Equipment and Facilities to support successful project delivery. The role also includes leading a national team of storepersons to ensure continued availability, performance and cost effectiveness of company equipment, facilities and fleet whilst ensuring that safety and statutory requirements are met.

    Duties andResponsibilities
    - Provide leadership, direction, and support to the Storepersons to ensure operational excellence.
    - Develop robust procedures and practices to ensure the smooth and efficient running of projects and operations.
    - Be the functional expert and first point of escalation for complex issues and queries on fleet, equipment, or facilities.
    - Author clear and well thought out recommendations, reports and e-mails with actionable insights.
    - Support the HOSC with the development of capacity and investment plans to meet the changing needs of business objectives.
    - Oversee maintenance and deployment to ensure availability and performance whilst being delivering best value.
    - Responsible for ensuring legal compliance of all fleet including maintaining accurate records at all times.
    - Manage driver and vehicle tracking, records, checking and reporting details at regular and prescribed intervals.
    - Manage the maintenance, storage and inspection of the company owned equipment to balance availability, performance, safety and cost.
    - Maintain legal compliance, statutory records and adherence to the requirements of accreditations, including PAT and equipment calibration.
    - Collaborate with Health and Safety, (SHWEQ), Procurement & Delivery teams to develop and review equipment specifications for both owned and hired equipment.
    - Source and make recommendations on the purchase of new equipment.
    - Ensure the buildings are maintained to an acceptable condition, working with storepersons and external third parties.
    - Work in conjunction with SHWEQ team to ensure that compliance requirements are met and all records are kept up to date
    - Provide a portfolio of providers at each location to cover foreseeable requirements, ., plumber, electricians etc.
    - Manage unexpected and short-notice events with minimum disruption to the business.
    - Ensure materials are stored and managed correctly including rotation and accurate record keeping.

    Who we're looking for

    Skills and Experience

    ESSENTIAL

  • Proven experience of managing a fleet and/or, equipment and/or facilities function gained within an SME.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of a range of equipment and materials used in the delivery of civil engineering projects,
  • Computer literate including technical competence in MS Office packages; a willingness to learn new systems-based tools.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in order to engage effectively with direct reports and wider teams.
  • Positive, solution orientated attitude even when working under pressure.
  • Demonstrable ability to work alone and use own initiative to solve problems and complete daily tasks swifty and accurately.
  • Ability to work flexibly in line with business requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally including overnight stays, when required.
  • Full driving licence.
  • DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge and experience of maintenance and PAT testing equipment.
  • Operation of LCVs including towing licence.
