    What to Expect

    The traction battery is a complex system, its role is to enable the electro-chemical heart of the battery (the cells) to operate to their peak efficiency by managing the environment in which they operate . Ensuring the most effective design solution for our customers starts with system engineering and refining our requirements down from vehicle to component .

    This role is to lead the battery and electrical system engineering chapter, working with the battery system technical specialists to take a comprehensive systems approach to the battery design development and verification. Working with the Energy and Cell chapters, the system engineering view will balance the domains of Structure (mechanical), Thermal, Electrical and Electrochemical to find solutions to design challenges and launch issues.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

    • Ensuring that incoming requirements are accurately processed and decomposed through the battery levels.
    • Ensuring that incoming legislative changes are accurately assessed and decomposed through the battery levels.
    • Represent the energy storage system within forward model quality reviews of requirement cascades.
    • Represent the integrated system of the battery at whole battery level
    • Use Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) as appropriate to manage the integrity of the system

    What you'll need

    • Systems engineering experience on a complex system ideally in Batteries
    • Experience in key system engineering tools (for example, SSCD, CATIA Magic, DOORS)
    • Capable of leading multifunctional teams to solve complex problems
    • Able to engage appropriate resources proactively and to ensure timescales are managed
    • Able to work within deadlines and motivate a team to achieve outcomes
