    Role Summary / Purpose and Scope
    Our property accounting team works closely with our clients to ensure we provide a market leading accounting service. The team is responsible for the management of property and lease data, best-practice service charge account management, and the provision of accurate and timely financial reporting, all combining to provide a day to day property accounting service that is a seamless extension of our clients' own accounting teams.
    Working in conjunction with the surveying, site teams and central accounts the property accountants work diligently to ensure all financials and processes are managed efficiently and effectively across all aspects of the instruction.

    Skills, Knowledge and Values

    • Preparation, reconciliation & recharging of annual service charge accounts within agreed timescales and in accordance with the RICS code.
    • Monthly review and analysis of expenditure incurred, recommendations and meetings with site team & posting of prepayments and accruals at the service charge year end.
    • Liaison with external auditors & posting identified audit findings.
    • Liaison with property management colleagues, acting on and providing information as required.
    • Identification of committed expenditure to include in variance report analysis.
    • Review of service charge set up & ongoing service charge system maintenance for all designated properties, at property and occupier level, including apportionments, caps, landlord liabilities & scheduling.
    • Service charge budgets updates to the PM system & ensuring occupier/landlord on accounts amended accordingly.
    • Service charge cash reconciliation production up to trial balance & identification of funding issues.
    • Direct recoverable reconciliations including utility recharge journal postings..
    • Dealing with property transitions/handovers.
    • Be familiar with RICS regulations, VAT & NRL requirements, and the procedures manual.
    • Be familiar with assigned properties, client requirements, and general administrative processes for the portfolio.
    • Undertaking ad hoc duties as required.

    Experience and Salary

    Level of Experience / Certifications:
    • Service charge accounting experience in a commercial environment.
    • Experience working with TRAMPS property management system would be preferred but not essential.
    • Knowledge of how to close year ends and demand balancing service charges
    • Ability to reconcile service charges and prepare service charge cash reconciliations preferred
    • Strong written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills
    • Understanding of general VAT accounting laws and requirements
    • Understanding of the application of VAT in commercial property
    Working Hours: 9.00am-5.30pm Mon-Thurs, 9.00am-5.00pm Friday

    Salary Range (Based on Experience)
    £37,000 - £45,000
