    We have an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Business Advisor in our Operational Business Support (Financial Management) team. You will support the delivery of our monthly management accounts across three non-Clinical Divisions.

    You will be a key part of the finance team providing financial stewardship to the organisation and supporting the achievement of the finance team vision.

    This vital role is responsible for providing a comprehensive and high quality financial and business support service to the Corporate, Digital and Estates & Facilities Divisions, in accordance with agreed timescales and professional standards.

    The post holder plays a crucial role providing expert financial advice and training to a range of Managers within the Divisions.

    You will work closely with the leadership teams across the Divisions to ensure the consistent achievement of financial performance and outcome targets that supports the delivery of high-quality patient care.

    Support the Business Advisor in providing a robust financial planning and reporting service to a Division including month end closedown, financial forecasting and risk assessment.


    • Manage a small team of staff to ensure priorities are delivered to expected standards and timescales, and that staff receive both regular appraisals and development opportunities.
    Deputise for the Business Advisor as required, including representation at a number of senior forums.

    You will be a qualified accountant, proficient in the use of a wide range of IT systems including financial ledger and will be able to work with non-finance staff to present complex financial information in ways which will ensure engagement and understanding.

    Financial Planning and Reporting

    Supports the Business Advisor (Corporate / E& F / Digital) in providing financial support to the Division and Service Lines.

    Support the Business Advisor (Corporate / E& F / Digital) in monitoring and reporting upon potential financial risks and risk minimisation strategies.

    Monitor and forecast expenditure trends/budgetary performance on a monthly basis, identifying variances & service issues for managers & advising them appropriately.

    Develops and maintains systems to monitor and update Division and Service Line financial plans and advise them on corrective actions where necessary.

    Provide information on a monthly basis to contribute to corporate financial reports.

    Supports the Business advisor (Corporate / E& F / Digital) and Divisional Directors and Managers in the identification of efficiency savings and provides a monthly schedule of progress against agreed targets.

    • To support the Business Advisor (Corporate / E& F / Digital) in providing robust financial planning and reporting service to a Division including financial forecasting and risk assessment.
    To provide expert financial advice and training to a range of managers and clinicians within the division.

    To support the Business Advisor (Corporate / E& F / Digital) in providing business management support to enhance decision making within the division.

    Manage a small team of staff ensuring regular appraisal and development opportunities.
    Deputise for the Business Advisor in their absence.
    Minimum 5 O Levels/GCSEs or equivalent (including Maths and English.
    CCAB qualifications or CIMA.
    Committed to Continuing Professional Development.

    Graduate

    Senior level experience in the NHS finance sector.

    Expert user of Financial Systems.
    Advanced report writing skills.
    Ability to investigate, analyse and convey complex financial information to a non-finance audience.

    Specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
    Personal Qualities
    Flexible and supportive work colleague.
    Able to travel between sites.
