    Description

R&D Tax Financial Associate, Sustainable Workspaces/Ventures

We are expanding our team and looking for an organised, experienced R&D Tax Financial Associate to advise our climate tech startup clients. You'll bring a passion for sustainability and a solid, working knowledge of R&D tax - both vital to ensuring our clients are successful in securing R&D tax relief for their Net Zero solutions.

You will work closely with the founders, CFOs and CTOs of companies at the forefront of solving the climate crisis through innovative technological developments. They will depend on your guiding hand, financial acumen and excellent knowledge of the R&D tax schemes to help them secure vital R&D tax funding. You will support a range of sector verticals, from EV software, innovative materials technology in fashion and building insulation, smart brick ventilation technology, and various novel carbon sequestration developments.

    The Role

    / Key responsibilities:

    • Prepare the R&D tax financial calculations, reviewing and assessing financial transactions for R&D eligibility and ensuring that R&D claims are made under the correct schemes while maximising the available benefits.
    • Prepare R&D tax claims, reports and proposals for submission to HMRC.
    • Manage a portfolio of clients - assessing their R&D challenges, identifying opportunities and advising on legislation and best practice.
    • Be the first point of contact for clients, liaising with colleagues, external bodies, and HMRC, and always driving service excellence.
    • Maintain sound and current knowledge of legislation changes and be confident in keeping clients and colleagues updated.
    • Support the wider R&D tax and commercial team to build strong client relationships within the climate tech ecosystem.

    • Ability to explain complex technical tax concepts clearly and concisely.
    • Experience in an accounting/financial-based role and a good understanding of accounting principles.
    • Excellent analytical and attention to detail skills, to ensure high-quality submissions to HMRC.
    • Excellent communication, relationship & project management skills.
    • Proactive, self-managing, with the ability to manage own workload well.
    • Forward-looking and problem-solving abilities with the ability to use your own initiative.
    • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.

    / Desirable

The climate crisis is a social and inclusion issue, and we especially encourage applications from individuals underrepresented in the climate space. We welcome applicants with diverse experiences.

    About Sustainable Ventures

We are Europe's largest ecosystem of climate tech startups. Following our recent expansion of our Central London headquarters, we're focused on our mission to develop 1000 new businesses by 2025, and expand our operations across UK regions.

Our impact on the planet's climate and its natural resources is being felt more often and by more people than ever before. It is clear that significant changes must be made to achieve the targets set by the IPCC and reach Net Zero by 2050. This presents the world's biggest challenge and it is something that SV has been addressing since 2011. We believe in the power of commercial innovation to address the twin challenges of climate change and resource scarcity.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis.
