We are seeking a Qualified and experienced Teacher of children with Vision Impairment (VI) to lead on the deployment of high-quality support and advice to Merton's schools and settings. You will be joining a dynamic team of experienced professionals supporting Children and Young People with Sensory Impairment.
You will advise the Sensory Service Manager and colleagues within the team about good practice in the education of children with VI. Expertise in specialist technologies used to remove barriers to learning for children and young people with VI is vital. Therefore you will hold the Mandatory Qualification in VI. You will also manage a personal caseload including both advisory and direct teaching support for children with VI.
You will contribute to the development of policy and practice within the service to meet the challenges of changes at national and local level. An in-depth knowledge of the requirements for safeguarding and child protection, strategies is essential as well as knowledge of current SEND policy and practice, especially as it affects teaching and learning within provision for the sensory impaired.
You will be enthusiastic, flexible, and able to work in a variety of settings as part of a service and multi-disciplinary team.
You must hold a current driver's license and have access to a car. A car mileage allowance and Essential Car User Permit is available.
If successful, you will have to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure. (DBS)
