    TransferRoom is a hyper-growth B2B SaaS business on a mission to change the football transfer market for the better.

    We do this by empowering football clubs, agents and players to be successful in the transfer market by giving them real-time market intelligence and direct access to a global network of decision-makers.

    Since our launch in 2017, clubs have used TransferRoom to facilitate over 3,000 transfers, and we are proud that today over 650 clubs from 60+ countries and 100+ leagues are currently using the platform.

    TransferRoom is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Vice President of Engineering to lead our engineering team.

    The VP Engineering will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, scaling our technology infrastructure, and delivering high-quality software products.

    Define and communicate the engineering vision, strategy, and goals to align the team with the company's objectives.

    Develop business cases and justify technology-related investments to key stakeholders, including other members of the management team, for example to inform the appropriate prioritization of long-term technical investments (refactoring, resilience planning, etc) vis-a-vis short-term feature development.

    Lead the creation and implementation of a technology roadmap that supports the company's growth and scalability.
    Collaborate closely with product managers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software products on time and within budget.
    Set and maintain high standards for code quality, architecture, and design.

    Help drive the development and innovation of our SaaS products, ensuring they remain competitive, reliable, and aligned with market needs.

    Enhance the company's use of Agile Scrum and software development metrics.

    Scalability, Performance and Resilience:
    Implement best practices for performance optimization and scalability.
    Identify and manage operational risks and ensure service reliability.
    Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and hiring plans to ensure the team's success.
    Ensure that staff training needs are met appropriately.

    Quality Assurance and Testing:
    Establish robust testing and QA processes to ensure software quality and reliability.
    Implement continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
    Implement and maintain security best practices to protect sensitive data.
    Understands and communicates the company's unique value proposition and how engineering efforts contribute to it.

    Possesses a pragmatic mindset, making decisions that balance innovation with practicality, and always considering the business impact of engineering choices.

    Proven ability to thrive in dynamic and fast-paced startup or scale-up environments, where priorities may shift rapidly, and resource constraints require creative solutions.


    Data-Driven Decision Making:

    Leverages data and metrics to inform engineering decisions, ensuring that technical efforts align with business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.

    Adept at creative problem-solving, finding efficient and effective solutions to technical challenges while maintaining a focus on the bigger picture.


    Accountability:
    Demonstrates a commitment to high performance by setting and signing up for challenging targets. Holds oneself and the engineering team accountable for delivering results, even in a fast-paced environment.

    Proven experience (8+ years) in engineering and technology operations leadership roles, with a track record of successfully leading and growing internationally distributed high-performance engineering teams.

    Experience with online marketplaces or industry knowledge (football industry) is advantageous but not mandatory.
    Strong knowledge of software development methodologies applied across multiple development teams, modern programming languages, and web technologies.
    AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and service-based architectures. C# and MS SQL a major plus.
    Experience harmonizing the activities of software development, technical operations, and data analysis teams.
