    Description
    Due to relocation of the current postholder, we are now looking for an Art or Design Technology specialist. You will be passionate about developing skills and life-long learning in both areas for our children in Years 3-6.

    You will either be a qualified teacher at Primary or Secondary level, or an individual who excels in either Art or Design Technology and can demonstrate a rapport with children and an understanding of how to nurture and engage children for them to flourish.

    You will inspire our children through your teaching of Art and Design Technology to Years 3-6 and will equally ensure children coming through EYFS and Pre-Prep are excited and enthused about your subject.

    You will liaise closely with, and will have strong colleague support from, the EYFS and Pre-Prep Art coordinator, who is an Art specialist, and will also benefit from a strong team of colleagues to continue the collaborative development of STEAM initiatives across the school.

    You will love running an after-school club each term for Prep, plus lunch time scholarship preparation for older children, and will make sure that there are art clubs and opportunities for younger children to further engage with the subject too.

    You will also be confident to liaise with parents about external and further opportunities for more able children.

    You will have an expansive and dedicated Art and DT classroom, support from a technician, happy children who want to learn, and a collaborative staff team.

    (Recent initiatives and successes for Art and DT have been:

    ~2nd place at ISA National STEAM competition for KS1
    ~Physical and virtual Art exhibitions
    ~ House Jubilee Art competition
    ~ STEAM and Art scholarships awarded to Year 6 children to independent secondary schools
    ~ iPads for all Y5 &6 which can be used for digital art

    The role is for four days per week, and the arrangement of days can be flexible to suit the appointee.

    To teach an imaginative, creative and inspiring Art and DT curriculum to Years 3-6 that encourages a range and breadth of ideas beyond that expected for the age range;
    To lead Art and DT across the whole school and to collaboratively lead on STEAM;
    To develop and showcase Art and DT at all ages, including exhibitions and displays;
    To celebrate diversity of cultures through the subject curriculum;
    liaise with parents about secondary school Art, DT or STEAM scholarships and attend the annual 'Future Schools' meeting for parents;
    Write one set of annual reports for children and scholarship references as required for children's senior school entrance;
    To work closely with colleagues and link for appropriate cross-curricular and topic planning to benefit the children and in order to take every opportunity to develop their learning;
    To be involved with school productions by leading on, or supporting, stage design and prop making;
    Ensure department Risk Assessments and files are kept up to date and in line with school and inspection requirements;
    Be part of the staff team for INSET days and in attendance at whole school events such as Fireworks Night, Carol Service, Fayres etc;
    Be a proactive member of the school community every day and a wonderful role model for children;

    Adhere to school policies at all times and treat the safeguarding of children as the most important aspect of the role.

    QTS or experienced artist / designer with experience of, and flair for, working with children;
    Knowledge and understanding of the range of techniques, materials and experiences that children need in order to be inspired and to flourish in the subject;
    Passionate about the subject and able to pass on your enthusiasm to children and the community;
    Passionate about inclusion, opportunities and high standards;
    Able to take on learning opportunities and advice in order to grow and develop;
    Creative, innovative and forward-thinking;
    Enthusiasm and ideas for using ICT in children's Art and Design where appropriate;
