    Accounting Manager - Bogotá. Colombia

    Independently manages a book close and financial reporting team in a deadline focused environment with ultimate responsibility for the accuracy of the work. Identifies emerging accounting issues and develops processes to address them. Communicates accounting issues, trends, and policies to a variety of audiences using a variety of means, including making presentations to senior management. Fosters the development of the team by setting objectives that challenge them while providing on-going coaching. Builds a culture of innovation to continuously improve processes to ensure work is performed in the fastest, most efficient means possible. Self-contributor leader

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages complex standard and ad hoc reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual book close, which includes general account reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, control checks, manual journal entries, preparation of financial statements) utilizing a broad knowledge of accounting principles (USGAAP)
  • Manages the creation, review and distribution of financial information and analyses to both internal and external audiences. Includes monthly book-close, quarterly, and annual reporting, and ad hoc reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with governance processes (Statutory Local GAAP and US GAAP, Attestation).
  • Evaluates, develops, maintains, and updates financial controls. Coordinates reviews of financial statements and processes with internal and external auditors.
  • Responsible for following enterprise risk management and compliance procedures. Follows risk management and quality compliance processes to include quality control compliance (i.e., OFAC, attestation).
  • Follows safeguards to protect company assets and ensure compliance with Corporate and Company procedures.
  • Proactively identifies, participates in, or manages cross functional/departmental projects. Defines project scope and prioritizes resource commitments. Communicates project opportunities of high complexity and constraints to Senior Management.
  • Identifies and evaluates opportunities to improve process, controls, and information systems.Develops cost/benefit analysis in support of recommendations and ensures they align with changing business needs. Ensures changes are implemented as needed.
  • Serves as a technical resource, provides feedback, training, guidance, and development to Financial Analysts and other cross functional professionals.
  • Evaluates performance and provides feedback for growth improvements. Defines individual objectives and development plans and ensures alignment with project and unit objectives.
  • May provide direct support to Department Head in making strategic recommendations and decisions.
  • Develops and maintains alliances with other business technology areas
    • Preparation, Training and Experience
  • A minimum of 7 years of financial/analytical/accounting/reporting experience, along with experience at leading cross-functional financial projects is preferred.
  • Insurance / Reinsurance / Big 4 accounting firms experience preferred.
  • Must have a solid understanding of US General Accounting Principles.
  • Experience initiating and leading projects and demonstrated ability to work with senior managers and key stakeholders in SBU/Corporate Departments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and decision-making abilities.
  • Fluently in English, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Global financial services industry experience is a plus.
  • Advance MS Excel, Financial Applications (Finance BI)
  • Experience with Global ERP Systems is required. SAP preferred.
