    Are you looking for an opportunity to work within Occupational Therapy in the rehab setting?

    Are you a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who likes to work within a team and help care for our patients?Are you wanting to stretch yourself into an Assistant Practitioner position?If so, this is the post for you.

    An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Occupational Therapy team at the Samuel Johnson and Sir Robert Peel Community Hospitals. We are looking to appoint a flexible and driven individual into a Band 4 Occupational Therapy Assistant Practitioner role who will join our established rehabilitation Therapy team.

    We are looking for a motivated Therapy Assistant with a passion for rehabilitation care who wishes to enhance their skills to a Band 4 level. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing high quality care.

    You will be expected to contribute to a varied clinical caseload in a multidisciplinary setting. Therefore, previous experience of health care and Occupational Therapy will be essential to this post which will provide you the opportunity to work autonomously and further your development in this area. You will work within a strong multidisciplinary team and supported with development needs.

    You may be required to contribute to a 7 day extended hour service.

    Main duties of the job

    We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with excellent communication skills and who is passionate about patient care and willing to go the extra mile.

    • Assessment and treatment, to include patients with a wide variety of conditions.
    • Close MDT working and discharge planning in a high pressured environment.
    • Contribute to support student Therapists.
    • Support clinical and team audit, including notes audits, stats audits and compliance with team clinical standards audits.
    • Support with discharge planning.

    We are a friendly and supportive team who can offer:

    • Support from Therapy Inpatient Lead, Band 7 Team Leaders and Senior Rotational therapists within the team, including regular clinical supervision.
    • Supported to provide high quality patient care including basic assessment and treatment to a caseload of patients.
    • PT/OT joint working.
    • Support to attend appropriate in-service training opportunities and courses to maintain competencies and to achieve personal development plans.
    • Trust commitment to CPD, demonstrated by yearly appraisal.

    Person specification Education

    • NVQ Level III or equivalent qualification in Health & Social Care

    Experience

    • Previous acute setting experience as a Health Care Assistant.
    • Previous experience of working as an Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy assistant
    • Evidence of working with Medical patients
    • Previous experiences as an Assistant Practitioner role
    • Previous experience in a CH setting

    Communication

    • Effective oral and written communication skills
