    Deputy Ward Manager

    We are in search of an energetic individual to join us as a Deputy Ward Manager on ward 2. This role is for a Band 6 for hours per week.

    The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in oncology, demonstrate strong leadership skills, hold qualifications in oncology and mentorship. Additionally, you will be expected to perform advanced clinical tasks.

    We are seeking highly motivated individuals with exceptional organizational and communication skills, capable of leading and supporting staff and patients in an inpatient setting.     Main Duties of the Job

    As a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the ward, providing support to junior team members, and demonstrating leadership skills in a clinical environment. Utilizing advanced oncology knowledge, you will work closely with the Ward Manager to ensure the safety and high-quality care of our patients.

    Job Description
    • Responsibility to ensure all nursing care is carried out as per care plans.
    • Ensure regular updates of care plans based on evidence-based practices.
    • Provide accurate information to patients and families regarding treatment and side effects.
    • Accurately collect and record patient information during shifts.
    • Comply with nursing policies and procedures within the ward.
    • Safely administer drugs and blood products following protocols.
    • Administer anti-cancer treatments.
    • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with SACT policies.
    • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care safely.
    • Supervise junior staff and participate in teaching activities.
    • Provide clinical leadership for patient-centered care.
    • Manage patient concerns, complaints, and escalate risks effectively.
    Person Specification
    Qualifications
    • 1st level Nurse (RGN) with UK NMC registration
    • BSc in Nursing, Health, or related field
    • ENB998 or equivalent mentorship course

    • Proficiency in Word and Excel
    • Management qualification or relevant experience
