    Afantastic opportunity has arisen for a permanent part time hour position asa Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist in MSK Lower limb as part of the Physiotherapyteam.

    The successful candidate will be required to work across all of our hospital sites within the Trust but will initially be based predominantly at DDH.

    As a team, we pride ourselves on ourdevelopment and positive approach to change, as well as having a flexible andsupportive team ethos. We have close working relationships with the ED andT&O MDT, other therapy teams and the wider AHP workforce.

    Main duties of the job

    Thesuccessful candidate will be required to take a lead role in the delivery ofthe MSK lower limb physiotherapy service working alongside advancedphysiotherapy practitioners and team leaders within this speciality.

    This post will play a key rolein reviewing pathways for patients within physiotherapy, auditing anddeveloping other team members to deliver a high quality therapy service forpatients to ensure best practice.

    The post also requires theindividual to have excellent clinical knowledge, skills and experience in theassessment and rehabilitation of a wide range of lower limb conditions, postgraduate qualifications in a relevant area preferred with relevant CPDessential.

    Job responsibilities

  • Be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care.
  • Ensure a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management.
  • Accept sole clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients and organise this effectively and efficiently with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  • Undertake the specialist and comprehensive assessment of patients referred from a variety of sources, including those with a complex presentation, using investigative and analytical skills
  • Formulate individualised management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning, and utilising a wide range of advanced treatment skills and options to formulate a specialised programme of care in conjunction with the patient and carers
  • Plan a care programme for individual patients in conjunction with other professional staff within the multidisciplinary team (MDT)
  • Provide specialist clinical expertise to colleagues within the team and referrers to the service
  • Communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of condition
  • Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation to encourage patients to undertake their treatment programme
  • Use verbal and non-verbal communication skills to gain informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers to effective communication. Assess capacity, gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who may lack capacity to consent to treatment
  • Participate in appropriate on call rota as required.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree in relevant therapy profession.
  • Registered with the Health Care Professions Council
  • Have or be working towards Masters degree or equivalent.
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent and relevant postgraduate courses
  • Clinical Educators Course
  • Desirable

  • Relevant clinical Post-Graduate qualification.
  • Management course
  • Experience
