Description
We currently have a Technical Discipline Manager opportunity for an experienced professional to lead our Ecology and Biodiversity team in Europe.
With over 100 experienced Ecology professionals, undertaking a wide range of projects throughout the UK and Ireland, and including International work, SLR Consulting leads the way in providing exemplar advice and services.
SLR's Ecology and Biodiversity Technical Discipline is a commercially focussed team of professionals delivering a diverse range of advisory services across a range of industry sectors.
Please note that we are flexible with regard to the location of this role across any of our UK offices.
The rolenReporting directly to the Service Line Operations Director for Environmental Sciences, you will have responsibility for all aspects of the management and development of the European Ecology and Biodiversity team.
This includes preparing and delivering the Technical Discipline's growth plan and budget, accurate reporting of work pipeline as well as assisting in strategy planning.
As TDM, you will also have a key responsibility for supporting sector and client business development initiatives and building the team's work pipeline by leading and facilitating the winning of work for the team from both new and existing clients (in line with regional and global strategic objectives).
You will be responsible for the continued professional development of the team as well as leading its future expansion by driving the recruitment and selection process for key appointments.
In addition, you will ensure the team's compliance with all SLR guidelines and procedures.You will also need to work closely with Sector Leads, Sustainability Solutions leads and other SLR disciplines to maximise business development opportunities and ensure effective cross-selling through existing disciplines and services offerings.
As such, the TDM plays a key operational, people management and administrative role in shaping a healthy, safe, respectful and ethical work culture and contributing directly to the overall success of the Service Line.
The role is accountable for:
nDelivering on technical discipline KPIs.
Provides timely and accurate KPI and progress reporting as required by the Service Line.nProviding a healthy, safe and respectful workplace environment at all sites under his/her responsibility.nReinforcing expectations for behaviour and workplace policies and practices that ensure situations of harassment, negative, disrespectful or unsafe behaviours and actions are dealt with fairly and effectively.nEnsuring all employees have completed the required HSSE training prior to working in the field.nManaging the performance of all direct reports and, with oversight and guidance from the Service Line Operations Manager, implement actions to appropriately and diligently address under performers.nOverseeing the participation in training and conferences in support of career development goals.nCash Management – diligently manage the cash position of projects within the group, including control over WIP, invoicing and debtors.nProviding leadership, mentoring and direction to the members of the technical discipline.nAbout usnSLR are global leaders in environmental and advisory solutions helping our clients achieve their sustainability goals.
