    Principal Employee Benefits Consultant

    Salary up to £85,000

    Remote

    The role of Principal Consultant assumes responsibility for servicing a client portfolio of commercial customers including corporate clients with multiple and often complex employee benefit requirements, and for arranging suitable group risk and healthcare products on behalf of such clients as appropriate to their identified requirements. This spans those group risk and healthcare products advised on by the Employee Benefits Consulting division within the business.

    As a member of the Risk & Health consulting team the Principal Consultant will support the Client Consulting Director in the development and execution of the Risk & Health growth strategy, proactively identify and execute opportunities for income growth through the distribution of group risk and healthcare products and represent the business across the wider Group.

    The Principal Consultant is responsible for the development and maintenance of group risk and healthcare provider relationships, for ensuring the Risk & Health consulting team are kept informed of developments within the group risk and healthcare market, for ensuring that the distribution of group risk and healthcare products makes a positive contribution to the delivery of the income growth strategy, and for managing a client portfolio.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Manage a client portfolio.
    • Working with the Client Consulting Director and Principal Consultant colleagues, communicate the strategy and proposition to clients, providers, other stakeholders and the wider health & protection market.
    • Promote cross sale of risk/healthcare/trust products and services within/across the business.
    • Manage conduct risk within the group risk tolerance level and ensure customers are treated fairly, for own clients and for clients of junior consulting colleagues.
    • Ensure group risk and healthcare products distributed to own clients are suitable for the intended target market and provide fair value to customers.
    • Be accountable for delivery of business growth targets, including.
    • Sustainable income growth from existing client portfolio, through the delivery of additional products and services and the identification and realisation of new consulting fee income opportunities.
    • Acquisition of new clients.
    • Ensure clients are engaged in accordance with FCA and compliance requirements, for own clients and for clients of junior consulting colleagues.
    • Ensure all advice given to clients is appropriate to their requirements and based on an understanding of their demands and needs, for own clients and for clients of junior consulting colleagues.
    • Manage Work in Progress and support as necessary the recovery of aged debt.
    • Provide business and thought leadership on matters relating to the group risk and healthcare market.
    • Provide technical expertise and support to the production of internal and external communications.

    Key Skills

    • Expert knowledge and understanding of UK group risk market and both age-rated and corporate healthcare market, including providers, products, market trends and senior personnel.
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of the wider employee benefits market, including health and wellbeing products and services, flexible benefit platforms/programmes, and DC pension benefits.
    • Proven ability to generate organic income growth through new business and expanded sales.
    • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and applicable legislation, including pension legislation.
    • Commercial awareness.
    • Demonstrable high level written and oral communication skills.
    • High level of proficiency in usage of internal company systems including XPlan, HubSpot, Flexcel.
    • High level of general computer literacy including familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
