    Job Title: Apprentice Teaching Assistants

    Contract Type: Apprenticeship Contract - 18 Months + 3 Months End Point Assessment

    Hours: 30 Hours per week + 2.5 Hours MSA (Term Time Only)

    Salary: £12,916 - £13,058 + £1,302 MSA

    Closing Date: 30 th April 2024

    Greenmount Primary School is looking to recruit two apprentice Teaching Assistants, to join their committed and enthusiastic team, with immediate effect.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wishing to get into teaching. You will be employed at the school whilst studying for a Teaching Assistant Level 3 apprenticeship with HTP Apprenticeship College.

    At the direction of the class teacher or other senior staff, you will support pupils with additional learning whilst working towards the Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

    The job Purpose:

    To work under the instruction and guidance of teaching or senior staff to undertake work/care/support programmes, to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom.

    Providing support for pupils:

    · Supervise and provide support for all pupils – including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.

    · Use specialist (curricular/learning) skills to support pupils.

    · Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour plans and personal care programmes.

    · Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs.

    · To promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.

    · Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.

    · Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence.

    · Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.

    Support for Teachers:

    · Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils work.

    · Use strategies, in liaison with the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals.

    · Assist with the planning of learning activities.

    · Monitor pupil's responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement / progress

    · Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupil's achievement, progress, problems etc.

    · Promote good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encourage pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.

    · Establish constructive relationships with parents / carers

    · Administer routine tests and invigilate exams and undertake routine marking of pupils work

    · Provide clerical / admin support e.g. photocopying, typing, filing, money, administer coursework etc.

    · To accompany teachers, with pupils on visits, trips and out of school activities

    You will also be supporting the school by administering its policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection.

    The Apprenticeship:

    Alongside the job, the successful candidates will be studying for a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification with HTP Apprenticeship College – please use the following link to read about the qualification:

    Off the job training will be provided, where you will have the time to complete your portfolio work, attend off job training seminars and have allocated time for mentoring and being shadowed.

    Candidates will need to have achieved Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent grades A-C (9-4) or Level 2 functional skills in Maths and English before completing the apprenticeship.
