    About the role:

    As a Licensing Portfolio Specialist, you will lead your team of licensing managers providing expert knowledge and insight to ensure that your portfolio is continually enhanced to satisfy our members, customers, and funders and aligns with Jisc strategy.

    You will deputise for the Head of your portfolio as required.

    How? Working with sector groups, funders, customers, and other Licensing Portfolio Specialists you will develop the strategy, processes and policies, including high level requirements, that translate strategy into a portfolio that responds both to our member and customer's requirements and to the markets that your agreements operate within.


    Responsibilities will include:

    You will be accountable for the development, performance and direction of your portfolio and team prioritising resourcing, investment and enhancements in line with Jisc's product and service management frameworks.

    To keep our work at the forefront of licensing worldwide and to meet our operational, financial and environmental requirements you will regularly review, monitor and evaluate its value to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction, taking necessary action to stop, start or continue activity.

    You will set the yearly programme for Jisc's strategic groups against key sector and licensing milestones, for example the review of sector requirements.

    Reporting internally and externally to members, funders and customers, to demonstrate outcomes, impact and value. Formulate strategies, tactics, workplans and other relevant documentation to secure high level support and mandates for our negotiation approach.

    Develop excellence in staff, ensuring that staff have clear objectives against which performance and outcomes are measured and embedding the Jisc behaviours framework within the team.

    Working with our data and intelligence team to facilitate knowledge transfer across your team, across Licensing and the wider Directorate to ensure staff are kept abreast of latest developments in your specialist area to the benefit of Jisc, our members, customers and funders.


    Key Skills and Experience:

    • Ability to draft high level technical, legal or product specifications.
    • An outstanding communicator– able to effectively convey and synthesise detailed, technical and non-technical, complex requirements to all audiences
    • Empowering – creates the conditions for individuals and a team to perform at their best
    • A track record of successfully leading, motivating and developing a team of professional staff to achieve high performance and continual service improvement
    • Representing an organisation in an external environment, conferences.
