As a Volunteer Theatre Workshop Assistant, you will assist at one of Herts Inclusive Theatre's Children's, Youth or Adult Theatre groups.
Detailed descriptionYou will join in with the group activities and have some fun getting to know all of our members.
You will help support with mobility and provide general encouragement to our slightly more shy members to take part.An excellent opportunity for those interested in community arts, theatre or those with an interest in disability and helping to support participants with additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, and Dyspraxia etc.
What are the main duties of a Volunteer Theatre Workshop Assistant?To support the Workshop Facilitator and Coordinator with the running of a drama workshop
Support and encourage the participants during the session
To use own initiative to prevent disruptive behaviour
To lead by example with behaviour and monitor participants at all times
Assist with the set up and set down of materials for the workshop
Assisting with mobility and orientation
Being polite and friendly
Being positive about all tasks taking place in the workshop
Undertake any other duties as reasonably required
What do we look for in volunteers?
You're able to work with and relate positively to children/ young people
That you have a commitment to safeguarding children & young people
You are able to follow instructions from HIT staff and work as part of a team.
You are ideally available for a minimum of at least one term (12 weeks)
Let us know if you are sick or have and holiday planned
You read through and sign a copy of the HIT policies folder.
Your able to attend relevant training and safeguarding opportunities where applicable
What will you gain from volunteering for HIT?
Voluntary positions at HIT give you the chance to meet new people, make new friends, and gain a wide range of new skills.
As well as the following:
the opportunity to gain experience working with a charity/ Arts Organisation and an opportunity to work directly with young people and adults on fun, creative projects.
There are also opportunities to develop your facilitation skills as well as access to discounted and free training such as BSL training.

Herts Inclusive Theatre (HIT) use the arts and wellbeing practices to build confidence, develop skills and give participants and their families memorable, enjoyable life experiences where everyone is encouraged, valued, supported and has their part to play.
Led by experienced practitioners, our workshops are open to all and are especially welcoming to those with special needs.
We run termly theatre workshops across Hertfordshire and North London, as well as creative activities during the holiday periods.Through these activities we break down barriers about disability, encouraging participants to work together on an equal level and without prejudice.
