- Providing a neurodevelopmental paediatric nursing service to children aged 0 to 18 years (and up to 19 years in special schools) who have a range of developmental neurological disabilities.
- Undertaking assessments of children, using standardised assessments children may have complex and/or long term disabilities and additional needs.
- Liaising with the multidisciplinary team, families, carers and other professionals to maintain a holistic view of the child or young person. Where there are other professionals involved the team aim to provide advice and support jointly with those other relevant professionals.
- Providing detailed reports for various purposes to include EHCP (education and health care plans).
- Communicating effectively in complex and challenging situations.

The Childrens Community Nursing Team is based at The Moor Lane Centre, Chessington, and is funded by the NHS. The team consists of specialist school and community nurses, health care assistants and support workers and provides nursing care to children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities within community settings in Kingston.

About the service
The Childrens Community Nursing Team is based at The Moor Lane Centre, Chessington, and is funded by the NHS. The team consists of specialist school and community nurses, health care assistants and support workers and provides nursing care to children and young people with complex health needs and disabilities in special schools, at home and within community services. The community nursing team also provides a specialist nurse-led sleep service and forms part of the Integrated Service for Children with Disabilities (ISCD), working across health, education and social care. The newly established pre and post diagnostic support team also sits within the community nursing service.
About the role
This is a mixed clinical and leadership role supporting the head of health services to deliver an exceptional quality and cost effective nursing service which meets performance targets against quality and productivity measures. We are seeking an experienced and motivated team leader to manage and grow a team of nurses and support staff working in a range of settings across Kingston. This will involve networking to create new relationships and require flexibility to align with emerging delivery models within the education and health sectors.
The Team Lead will have the ability to inspire and manage a team to ensure they deliver high quality, evidence based nursing care and will work with others to improve organisational performance. You will be highly motivated to deliver change, build relationships and work alongside the head of health services to create a team that will provide outstanding services for children and young people with disabilities. The post holder requires developed clinical expertise with demonstrable experience of working as a paediatric nurse in a community setting. They will carry a small caseload alongside providing clinical supervision and leadership and they will support the selection and employment of staff within budget.
