- A commitment to working strategically in collaboration with parents/carers and families to achieve the best possible education, and other, outcomes for all children and young people with SEND.
- Substantial strategic experience of SEN and disability including working with children and young people with SEN or their families, education settings, health professionals and social care colleagues, ideally in a similar role within a local authority or educational context.
- Proven history of senior leadership, supervising and managing a large staff team to increase performance and efficiency.
- A proven track record of compliance with national performance indicators.
- Honed knowledge of the Children and Families Act (2014), SEND Regulations 2014, the SEND Code of Practice and relevant Schools' Statutory Guidance, being able to apply this to decisions and support others in its application
- An understanding of the CQC/Ofsted SEND inspection framework, along with an appreciation of the common challenges reported upon and relevant strategies for improvement.
- Effective partnership working skills with colleagues in schools, early years settings, post-16 education institutions, health and social care.
- The financial management skills to monitor budgets and commission efficient local and regional placements for children and young people.
- Experience of supporting the delivery of the strategic goals of a large organisation
