    Infrastructure Engineer

    Location – London or Winchester

    This role will form part of an on-call rota.

    Who are we looking for and what will you be doing?

    Your role will be to build, support and continuously improve performant, scalable, resilient and efficient infrastructure, both physical and cloud-based, that underpins internal and client facing solutions.

    Under the guidance of the Head of Infrastructure or Senior Infrastructure Engineer;

  • Develop, support and continuously improve LCP's technology infrastructure, spanning three physical office and numerous MS Cloud subscriptions
  • Design and implement standardised templates and configuration baselines, that enable approved teams to efficiently self-serve cloud resources
  • Relevant infrastructure technologies and solutions, including compute, storage, networking, physical infrastructure, software, COTS and open-source solutions and virtual and cloud computing, including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
  • Proactively drive the automation of infrastructure tasks to reduce time overheads on standard practises
  • Automation of manual or repetitive tasks to enhance end-to-end infrastructure health and performance
  • Policies to manage infrastructure components securely, including identity and access management, patching and disaster recovery, leading by example regarding adoption and compliance
  • Processes and controls that assure maximum uptime and quick service to stakeholders for both physical and cloud-based workloads
  • Maintain and develop awareness ofinformation security and the controls that can be used to mitigate threats within solutions and servicesModern infrastructure standards and practices
  • Coordinate with third party vendorsWhere required to ensure the ongoing health and availability of hosted or outsourced functionsIn the case of the Security Operations Centre (SOC), as directed regarding threat detection and response activity in conjunction with information security and in line with established LCP incident response processes
  • Own incidents and problemsUntil a new owner is required, or the issue has been mitigated or resolvedConducting root cause analysis to identify and resolve underlying issuesTroubleshooting across different infrastructure technologiesCollaborating as needed, within and beyond the team
  • What skills, qualities and experience are we looking for?

  • First-hand experience and knowledge of modern infrastructure technologies, emerging standards and trends, such as Azure hosted services and Office , notably, Windows and Linux Servers, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Yammer and core Office apps, Endpoint Manager/InTune, (including application packaging) and the Defender suite
  • Experience of managing infrastructure within a DevOps organisation – including Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation and enterprise monitoring and reporting tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Zabbix, and Azure Monitor
  • Demonstrable first-hand experience of managing IP based networks, WAN technologies, virtual server technologies, cloud, DHCP/DNS, MS Office , and SAN/NAS storage technologies
  • Demonstrable first-hand experience with modern infrastructure event/log management and alerting and related workflow automation such as Power Automate, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure Monitor
  • Ability to proactively own and coordinate resolving infrastructure issues, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure solutions continue to meet business needs
  • Ability to break a problem down into its component parts to identify and diagnose root causes, troubleshooting and identify problems across different technology capabilities
  • Effective planning and organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate several work streams simultaneously, while balancing priorities and quality
  • Ability to balance conflicting and changing demands through prioritisation and pragmatism
