Purpose of the Role The role will have accountability for the provision of high calibre professional financial oversight of all aspects of Financial Accounting and Management Reporting within IUK BC, working closely with and reporting directly to IUK BC Head of Finance.
A key challenge will lie in establishing and implementing robust financial processes, developing the team to deliver high quality output, and provide high quality of financial information to the stakeholders.
The role requires sound experience in accountancy, line management experience, with diplomatic skills, and ability to collaborate and evaluate complex financial issues.
A critical aspect of the role is to provide clarity on IUK BC Financial position, oversee financial cycles (month-end, quarterly reporting, year-end), lead on stakeholder relationship with IUK BC Auditors, mandatory tax submissions and provision of statutory accounts.
This role will work closely with our Head of Finance in delivering strategic financial advice to the organisation and assisting in decision-making, whilst ensuring compliance and value-for-money.
As a senior member of the IUK BC Finance Team the role may be allocated corporate tasks, be the subject matter expert for a particular technical area or issue and play a role in the development of policies and processes across IUK BC.
Collaborating closely with IUK BC Head of Finance as part of the senior team to ensure the effective management of the organisation's finances and advising on various financial issues.
Working with external stakeholders within the IUK BC community, such as Auditors, Corp Tax team, IUK Finance team to ensure smooth financial managementLeading the effective delivery of a high performing Finance service, through the further development of the Financial Accounting and Management Reporting team, ensuring that the high standards within the team are developed and maintained.
Actively managing Financial Accounting and Management Reporting team, ensuring that appraisals, probationary meetings (where applicable) and regular one-to-one meetings take place to develop the skills and behaviours of the team.
Delivery/programmes/projects/processManaging preparation of Statutory Accounts and leading on engagement with external Auditors
Managing monthly payroll process
Leading on producing quarterly management accounts
Ensuring accuracy of transactional data, including smooth data uploads to KETO, timely process of purchase and sales invoices, creditors and debtors controls, staff recharge journals, etc
Maintaining a robust internal control environment, consistent with the relevant regulations and ensuring compliance with IUK BC policies and processes
Leading on review and continuous improvement of IUK BC Financial policies, processes, and controls, building IUK BC Finance Manual
Providing guidance and advice to members of finance team and wider IUK BC on financial policies and processes
Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA)
Highly numerate and analytical with sound technical accounting knowledge
Excellent communication, relationship building and influencing skills, and resilience
Ability to communicate financial matters to a broad range of audience, deal with ambiguity, complexity, and work within a fast-paced, innovative, and matrixed environment
Ability to work strategically to balance the conflicting demands of multiple stakeholders whilst protecting the integrity of key financial processes.

The postholder will be based in Harwell, Oxfordshire with flexibility to work from home two days a week.
