    Are you a qualified CWP looking for a role / your first role working with young people with mental health conditions? Are you keen to be involved in a newly established and actively expanding Primary Mental Health Team?

    We are looking for a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join us for a 1-year FTC (from start date) at our team base in Wokingham Hospital.

    In this role you will be providing outcome focussed, evidence-based low intensity interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.This is a unique opportunity to be part of, and contribute to, a developing and innovative service.

    As a team we work closely and proactively with partner agencies, including the Mental Health Support Teams, Early Help, Youth Offending Teams and CAMHS. We provide an important interface with partner agencies and specialist CAMHS.

    The service has been developed in partnership with Wokingham Borough Council Children's Services, who remain key partners in this initiative and the development of wider emotional health and wellbeing services for young people.

    As a Trust we are big on staff development and can offer both internal and external training in this role. Operational management and clinical supervision will also be provided.

    The service operates Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 and we are open to applicants looking for both full and part time hours.

    Main duties of the job
    • Assess and deliver, outcome focused, evidence-based low intensity interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
    • Work in partnership with children, young people and families in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.
    • Support and empower children, young people and families to make informed choices about the intervention.
    • Provide a range of information and support for low intensity evidence based psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help, CCBT, behavioural activation and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be face-to-face, by telephone or via other media.

    • CWP Qualification
    • Previous experience working with young people with mental health issues
    • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young peoples emotional well-being

    • Graduate/Postgraduate Certificate in Brief Evidence-Based Interventions for Children and Young People with Common Mental Health Problems (CYP IAPT)/successful completion of the CWP training programme.
    • Literacy with evidence of good report writing.

    • Other relevant postgraduate degree
    Continuous Professional Development Essential
    • Evidence of training/qualifications relating to working with children, young people and families
    Previous Experience Essential
    • Experience of working with children and young people with mental health issues
    Desirable
    • Worked in a service where targets were agreed and progress towards the targets were used to demonstrate outcomes.
    Knowledge and Skills Essential
    • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young people's emotional well-being
    • Responsive to and willing to ask for feedback and supervision
    • Demonstrates an understanding and can identify common mental health issues experienced by children and young people
    • Understand why it is essential to use evidence-based interventions when possible
    • Understand why collecting feedback from children, young people and parents is important
    • Ability to demonstrate how to effectively put training into practice
    • Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
    • Received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
    • Able to develop good professional relationships with colleagues inside and beyond child and adolescent mental health services
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills and use of internet mediated communication
    • Computer literate - able to use excel database and word.
