Description
Location: South Kensington Campus
Job Summary
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases and Environmental Change (NCD) in Low-Middle Income Countries (LMIC), the School of Public Health and the Centre for Environmental Policy (CEP), have an exciting new opportunity for a Research Assistant to join an international team working on an ambitious project aimed at providing solutions for major health challenges related to environmental degradation in India, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. This role also presents an opportunity to work on other environmental modelling activities addressing similar challenges in an African context.
This is an exciting post which will require you to have combined quantitative and qualitative research methods skills, with a keen interest in exploring and enhancing research in LMICs on the land use, food, water, and air quality nexus. In addition, you will support the development of new evidence-based tools by analysing existing human population and associated environmental data, whilst contributing to the design of sustainable dietary and heath interventions with a participatory component.
Duties and responsibilities
You will contribute to the review and summaries of relevant literature for the project. You will collect, analyse, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data, making use of appropriate research methods and techniques (including very large datasets). You will assist in the preparation of assessment reports and papers for publications and workshops or conference presentations.
In addition, you will contribute to the promotion and dissemination of the project and its outputs across the College and in external conference presentations. You will also contribute to project management, partner coordination and to keep accurate and up-to-date records of activities relating to the project. This will involve organising workshops, seminars, expert stakeholder engagement, among other meetings associated with the project. You will assist in the formulation, preparation, and submission of research funding applications in areas related to the project, and support with teaching and project supervision of MSc students.
