    Head of Employment - London, United Kingdom - Centre People

    Description
    A Japanese pharmaceutical company is currently recruiting an HR Director to join their busy team in the London Office.

    In this role, you will be responsible for leading, directing, and managing all aspects of HR, payroll and pension functions, and identifying employee relations issues to ensure a fully comprehensive service is delivered to the business.

    The ideal candidate should have a knack for fostering collaboration across different departments, an in-depth understanding of HR operations, and a hands-on approach to carrying out duties.

    Understanding of Japanese culture and possession of some Japanese language skills would be advantageous but not mandatory for this role.

    Work experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, or biotech is required.


    TYPE:
    Full-time, permanent contract


    WORKING HOURS:
    9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday


    SALARY:
    £80-100K DOE plus bonus (this is also based on experience)
    August – October 2024 (probation period 6 months)
    Central London (Currently 3 days in the office (Wednesday is mandatory), 2 days' work from home – It may change depending on the company's decision)


    HR DIRECTOR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee all HR operations (payroll, pension, on/off boarding, performance evaluations, promotions, bonuses, benefits, hiring, solving employee disputes, etc)
    • Lead and direct the HR function, working with the other 2 HR members in the department to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business, implementing HR strategies and objectives that are aligned to their business strategy
    • Understand and ensure that all HR activities needs to be strategically aligned and in progress with the business goals
    Work with senior management, coaching, mentoring, advising on all people issues and creating employee engagement and team building activities


    • Report to the Managing Director in the UK office and HR headquarters in Japan

    HR DIRECTOR IDEAL CANDIDATE:

    • Held previous senior HR positions for at least 10 years' experience such as Head of HR
    • Current or previous experience working in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, biotech industry (mandatory)
    • Solid employment law knowledge and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations
    • Capable of handling all day-to-day HR operations independently (payroll, pension, on/offboarding, performance evaluations, promotions, bonuses, benefits, employee disputes, etc)
    • Preferred candidates who have personally performed these tasks in their recent work experience rather than delegating them to subordinates.
    • The reporting line will be to the Managing Director and the Head of Human Resources at the headquarters (in Japan)
    • Needs to exhibit excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English
    • Fluency in Japanese would be an asset; All applicants for the HR Director must have the right to work in the UK as the Company is not able to offer visa support. #
