    We're on the hunt for an enthusiastic Research Technician to dive into the fascinating world of cyanobacteria—yes, those tiny but mighty organisms that helped shape life on Earth by transforming CO2 into O2 billions of years ago

    You'll be a pivotal part of a vibrant team in Dr. Leney's laboratory at the prestigious School of Biosciences at the University of Birmingham. You will spend your days in a buzzing environment where each discovery contributes to tackling today's climate crisis. Your work would involve:

    • Cultivating cyanobacteria to unlock their climate-saving secrets.
    • Mastering techniques like SDS PAGE, ultra-centrifugation, UV-vis spectrometry, protein purification, liquid chromatography, and even mass spectrometry.
    • Collaborating with top-tier scientists and creating ground-breaking research opportunities that adapt and evolve with the cutting-edge science.

    Who are we looking for?

    An undergraduate/masters degree in biochemistry. Preferred candidates will have experience in studying proteins using a wide range of biochemical and analytical techniques, and be interested to learn to use new technology. You should be able to demonstrate problem-solving skills and be able to work effectively as a team. We are looking for candidates that can communicate effectively complex information, prioritise their workload and show strong attention to detail.
