Reporting into the Head of Banking and Investments, the 'Senior Business Manager – Banking and Investments' will play a key role in shaping, developing and delivering the origination business plan and providing overall business development, organisational and reporting support to the team's senior leadership in the running of this large, complex business.
The 'Senior Business Manager – Banking and Investments' will be ambitious in supporting the Head of Banking to proactively build, lead, and motivate a high performing team and encourage a culture of knowledge sharing and learning that nurtures future talent and effectively contributes to the UKIB's strategic objectives.
The role holder will act as an ambassador for the Bank's twin missions of local and regional growth and the Net Zero transition.
A member of the Banking and Investment's senior leadership team, the role holder will work collaboratively to develop and execute the Banking function's strategic plans, setting functional goals and objectives in alignment with the Bank's overall mission and vision and proactively monitor the achievement of these goals and objectives against plan.
Accountable for the Banking and Investment team's performance metrics.Design and establish key performance indicators, accurately monitor and report on the function's performance and present findings back to the Banking and Investments senior leadership team on a monthly basis.
Support the Head of Banking in identifying, facilitating and driving complex change projects from initiation to final implementation and launch.
Create, maintain and communicate detailed and organised project plans that document delivery milestones, decisions and risks.Support the Head of Banking in the effective setting, monitoring and management of the budget and financial performance of the department, including expense control and revenue generation.
Provide expert analysis on financial data to influence and make evidence based informed decisions.Partner Managing Directors and support them in the overseeing of organisational risk assessment and mitigation strategies, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and guidelines.
Work collaboratively with colleagues in Risk and Portfolio Management to design and implement policies and procedures to manage risk effectively within the Banking and Investments team.
Interface in an open, constructive and collaborative manner with colleagues across the Bank and support the Banking and Investments Senior Leadership team in the construction of sector strategies as well as the assessment and suitability of prospective deals to fulfil the strategic mission of the Bank.
Conceive, lead and facilitate cross functional workshops to define strategies for operational excellence and efficiency along with associated deliverables, innovatively solve problems, and assess organisational impacts to better enable high performance working and further develop organisational capability.
Be accountable for the planning, management and content development of all Banking and Investments content for the UKIB governance forums, including Investment Committee, Executive Committee, Board committee and external committees with other government and arm's length bodies as required.
Actively lead, manage and build positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, to include Government Departments, ALBs (e.g., British Business Bank, UK Government Investments and Scottish National Infrastructure Bank) as well as private banks, investors, advisers and project sponsors and address their concerns and needs whilst acting as an effective advocate for the department to ensure exceptional service delivery.
A degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is likely to be advantageous.Strong in MS Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Significant experience in banking, financial services or Government in Business Management or similar roles, with a proven track record of success.
Significant experience in leading and managing change in complex organisational settings, including Financial Services or government organisations.Experience coaching and influencing peers and senior decision makers, including experience of offering challenge and holding others to account for decision making and strong problem-solving ability.
