We're looking for an Operational Excellence Delivery Lead to join our Operational Excellence team in Haywards Heath, West Sussex .

At First Central, we have our own unique approach to continuous improvement. We're on a journey to better ways of working, taking and applying what works from various bodies of knowledge – Lean, Agile and Systems Thinking.

In this role you'll be accountable for delivering fit for purpose Operational Excellence improvement initiatives, owning and delivering a range of improvement projects, sponsored at Executive level, which deliver against agreed benefits targets. You will progressively build continuous improvement capability across the business to ensure Operational Excellence principles are core to the way the business operates

You'll be great in this role if you have:

• Experience as a continuous improvement specialist, with a demonstrable track record of being able to effectively apply the theory to practice
• The ability to use all your skills and knowledge to utilise a variety of methods, ensuring you use the right tool for each job
• An engaging and collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of colleagues

Whats Involved:

• Use data and facts to truly understand the root causes of problems and opportunities across the business
• Select, develop and utilise appropriate lean project models, tools and techniques across all elements of the plan – do – check – act cycle
• Build capability with the teams you work in and with to ensure continuous improvement initiatives sustain & grow
• Lead projects which deliver significant improvements to operational processes, reduce waste, build quality and enhance customer experience
• Support the leadership teams in creating a culture of operational excellence through coaching and mentoring of colleagues
• Build effective working relationships and influence across all levels, fostering an open and collaborative culture
• Ensuring the accuracy of all initiative reporting, enabling the provision of detailed insight into the delivery and performance of projects
• Working collaboratively across the change community and the business, and considering the impact of changes on the overall delivery of the Business Plan
• Contribute to the development of a sustainable Continuous Improvement strategy with the aim to successfully build business-wide CI capabilities, with a strong focus on customer outcomes
• Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times
• Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times
• Any other reasonable duties

Job-specific competencies

Experience & knowledge

• Lean/Six-Sigma/Process Re-engineering/Continuous Improvement specialist, demonstrable track record of being able to effectively apply the theory to practice
• Experience of establishing a culture of Continuous Improvement, by developing internal capability through up-skilling existing people
• Track record of delivering high impact continuous improvement initiatives that have sustained over time
• Strong stakeholder management experience, to ensure differing points of view are brought together to move them forward
• Disciplined with clear plans and excellent execution capability
• Experience in leading people through cultural change
• Solid understanding of lean, six sigma and systems thinking principles
• Strong understanding of the Company objectives and operations
• Good understanding of regulatory requirements specific to the Company and the functions under control

Skills

• People management and project leadership skills, and ability to motivate employees in a high pressurised environment
• Strong technical Continuous Improvement skills with proven track record of delivery
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
• Strong influencing and persuasion skills with the ability to overcome objections and negotiate right outcomes
• Self-motivated and able to self-direct
