    Construction Site Safety Manager

    The role:


    The role will be part of the Capital Projects Management Team who are accountable for implementing the buildings and infrastructure programme required to support Agratas' ambitious plans.

    This will be a Construction Site based role in Bridgwater, Somerset.


    As Construction Site Safety Manager, you will play a key role in the governance regarding the care and protection of employees and contractors.

    This position revolves around ensuring safe work environmental conditions at the companies construction site in Bridgwater.

    In this role you will report to Head of Construction and work alongside the appointed Contracts Manager.


    Key Duties & Responsibilities:
    Coordinate risk assessments, define responsibilities, identify high risk jobs and establish communication paths, safety routines, safety standards and inspections.

    Maintain appropriate awareness, knowledge and preparedness to create a culture that prioritises a safe workplace.

    Identify gaps when present and ensure that an action plan is developed and implemented on time.

    Ensure that all workers receive proper safety training and are aware of safety protocols.

    Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with safety standards.

    Develop and implement emergency response plans.

    Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to prevent recurrence and ensure all associated records/documents are maintained.

    Promote safety awareness and maintain open communication with workers.

    Ensure proper use of PPE by all personnel.

    Monitor worker health and address any health-related concerns.

    Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.

    Work closely with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to maintain safety standards.

    Ensure annual H&S audits and quality assurance.

    Ensure the company meets its obligations under the 'Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations'.

    Implementation of any new legislation relating to health and safety.

    Facilitate all forms of risk assessment - manual handling, fire risk assessments / fire prevention, COSHH.

    Conduct occupational health and safety surveys - noise, light, chemical substances.

    General NEBOSH Certificate

    CSR Site Card

    First Aid Basic Certificate

    Extensive experience within a similar management role with knowledge of the following:

    Risk Assessments

    Conducting safety inspections

    Emergency preparedness

    Accident investigations

    Safety communication

    PPE requirements

    Safety Communication

    Health & well-being

    Environmental compliance

    Strong Communication skills the ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.

    Knowledge of IOSH Safety standards and regulations relating to the specific trade or activity being managed.

    Good organisational and record keeping abilities the ability to maintain accurate records of all safety related activities.

    Good working knowledge of British Health & Safety legislation and COMAH.

    Background managing people as the direct reporting manager.

    Desired Experience

    NEBOSH Fire Prevention and Risk Management Certificate

    Environmental Management Systems Qualification

    IOSH Safety, Health and Environment for Construction Workers.
