    Applications Support Engineer

    London (Hybrid 2 days a week in the office)

    Permanent

    £55,000 - £70,000 depending on experience


    The Background


    We are partnered with an innovative IT Management Consultancy based in London but with a global presence who are leading advisors in their industry by creating lasting value for their clients. Due to growth within the business, they are searching for an Applications Engineer with exceptional troubleshooting skills to join the team. The day-to-day focus on the role is to collaborate with stakeholders and team members to define application requirements, identify solutions, then implement, test, document, and support the end solution. This role presents an exciting opportunity encompassing a wide range of tasks including integration, automation, and enhancement of the current environment. It's important to mention that the role will involve participating in the team's on-call schedule, requiring the successful candidate to be on call approximately one week every two months.

    To thrive as an Applications Engineer, you will need…

    • Previous experience in the following areas and a genuine interest in the technologies and their functionality:
    • PowerShell
    • VMWare
    • Microsoft Exchange
    • Storage, including SAN
    • Patching


    The Role


    As an Applications Engineer, you will become the subject matter expert for supported applications across technical and operational aspects. Your responsibilities will include working on projects to gather business requirements, evaluate feasibility, provide estimates, design solutions, and create detailed specifications. Expect a high level of collaboration with internal and external providers and vendors to deliver end-to-end solutions meeting technical requirements. As processes are put into practice, you will develop documentation, procedures, and reproducible test cases to aid in troubleshooting, testing, and validation. Within this role, you will collaborate with the team to enhance platform stability, security, deployments, upgrades, patch management, and software deployment, ensuring adherence to ITIL processes and procedures.
