    The project:
    To enable our planned growth in the Energy and Utilities sector, we are looking to grow our transmission and distribution consultancy team. Our portfolio of work involves delivering complex projects and programmes across our client base of strategic clients across gas and electricity. The role is an opportunity to be a part of our expansion – helping us deliver distinctive value for our clients by ensuring their projects progress on-site in accordance with safety, quality and contractual standards. Specifically, we are seeking experienced candidates who can evidence their success in: monitoring of health, safety and environmental standards, and management of associated risks, throughout the delivery phase. Supervising of project delivery to time, cost and quality requirements. Working with clients, contractors and the supply chain to achieve project outcomes.

    You'll be responsible for:

  • Ensure that the Principal Contractor is pro-active in managing all safety aspects of the construction based activities and discharging their duties under CDM regulations.
  • Undertake regular site safety walks, attend coordination meetings and chair regular site progress meetings with contractors.
  • Ensure that site access/egress is controlled and maintain a site log/diary.
  • Review the suitability of Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Provide input to, review and comment on the deliverability of contractor programmes, including commissioning, and proactively monitor activity progress.
  • Inspect, approve or reject materials and workmanship in line with construction industry and client standards.
  • Undertake sensible monitoring of site construction activities.
  • Issue site instructions and authenticate record sheets issued by the Principal Contractor.
  • Ensure drawings are maintained on site and that latest revisions are readily available through documentation system.
  • Determines project management, technical services and external resources required for project/s.
  • Delivers project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and supervises the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Monitors and actively engages in Health, Safety and Wellbeing aspects of the project at all stages.
  • Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
  • Oversees project timeframes and project budgets, and ensures budgets are managed diligently and highlights any risks, challenges and mitigations.
  • Collaborates with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored.
  • Leads relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis where required and site walks and ensures these are suitably recorded.
  • Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management.
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project parties/stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and ensures suitable standards and records are recorded and maintained.
  • Documents and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes.
  • Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

    • You'll need to have:

  • Degree qualified with a minimum of three years' relevant gas or electric transmission industry experience OR HNC /HND qualified with a minimum of five years' relevant gas or electric transmission industry experienceNEBOSH, SMSTS and/or IOSH.
  • Substantial previous work experience in project management (or equivalent).
  • MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS (or working towards) or local equivalent.
  • Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience / apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
  • Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card or equivalent.
  • Skills to lead others effectively, gives clear direction and coaches and supports others to reach their full potential
  • Persuade and influence others successfully towards a desired course of action.
  • Demonstrate a better perspective and explores innovative approaches in pursuit of a better way.
  • Present clearly and communicate effectively in a confident manner.

    • You'll also have:

  • Experience of site management and delivering to deadlines in a contracting environment.
  • Good understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies.
  • Practical experience and formal training in the following areas:
  • Construction health and safety
  • CDM Regulations 2015
  • Risk Assessment & Method Statements
  • Environmental awareness and waste management
  • Basic Project Management skills including management of risk for delivery of projects to scope, time, cost, quality and safety.
  • Familiarity with standard contract terms and conditions, e.g. NEC3/4, FIDIC, BEAMA.
  • Degree qualified with a minimum of three years' relevant gas or electric transmission industry experience OR HNC /HND qualified with a minimum of five years' relevant gas or electric transmission industry experience
  • NEBOSH, SMSTS and/or IOSH
