Who are we looking for and what will you be doing?

We are looking for a highly motivated, hands-on QA software testing SDET professional with a proven track record of working in active and productive Agile/DevOps working environments. Key skillsand attributes include proficient exploratory testing, automation skills (C#, Specflow, Selenium etc), strong communication/negotiation skills (written and verbal), QA advocacy, and ideally Pensions-based domain knowledge.

You will be dedicated to working on LCP's web-based, enterprise-grade Pensions Administration system (Pulse). Pulse is a cloud-based system built on the Microsoft technology stack. The development model is a mature Agile/DevOps-based working environment and it is essential the candidate has a proven track record working in this ecosystem (including all Agile ceremonies.

Key responsibilities:

• Close collaboration with the Pulse QA Team, Development Team, Product Manager, Business Analysts, and business-led Pulse stakeholders to contribute to the testing and quality assurance of the Pulse system
• Advocating, maintaining, and monitoring unit, integration, and UI testing
• Understand and work with Behaviour Driven Development (BDD)
• Document and maintain robust test plans including end-to-end integration test scenarios
• Write and execute robust test scripts, attaining a high percentage of test automation and regression within Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
• Exploratory testing and maintenance of a clear test plan for any test scenarios that can't be automated
• React promptly and positively to logs and feedback loops that relate to the testing process
• Maintain honest working relationships with stakeholders keeping them informed and involved in the testing process through open and transparent working policies
• Demonstrate ability to think deeply and imaginatively to surface potential issues early that other stakeholders may not have considered (eg, non-functional, scalability, accessibility, obsolescence etc)
• Identify trends and patterns to assist with incident / problem management
• Ensure the QA Team follows industry best practices. Identify opportunities to improve existing testing processes, automating where possible
• Be evangelical/promote testing positively to increase the range and visibility of the QA Team
• Establish and cultivate relationships with interested stakeholders throughout the firm, be a trusted advisor and technical authority within the firm and champion best practices
• Understand, engage with, and support multi-disciplined technical teams and resources

What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?

• Strong verbal and written communication skills when dealing with Developers, QA Team, Business Analysts, the Product Manager, Senior Project Stakeholders, and business-led testers (contributing openly, honestly, and pro-actively in daily stand-up meetings, refinement, retrospective, sprint meetings etc)
• Champion and advocate the value of software testing / QA, making sure it becomes embedded in day-to-day working activities across all areas of the project (not just the QA team)
• Ability to distil User Stories into test cases (in Gherkin language), defining SMART acceptance criteria and making sure, where possible, all test cases can be later converted into automated checks (or alternatively clear, documented manual checks)
• Experience creating Specflow+ LivingDoc's documentation through CI/CD pipelines
• Strong Selenium-based automation skills (written in C# based on a Specflow/BDD approach) and related technologies eg, Visual Studio, Git (confident with code branching, pull requests, merging code) etc
• REST API testing skills are essential across all verbs (eg, GET, PUT, POST, DELETE etc) including automation (eg, RestSharp) and related tools (eg, Postman, Swagger etc)
• Understand and advocate the value of the testing pyramid heuristic as an effective testing strategy
• Skilled tester throughout the complete testing stack - including non-functional testing (ie, accessibility, security, and performance-based testing)
• Experience with charter-based exploratory testing to learn and discover user stories whilst simultaneously testing on-the-fly
• Hands-on, highly motivated software tester, unafraid to take the initiative to make sure the QA team is respected, maintains control and influence, and helps shape the future of Pulse in a progressive manner
• High attention to detail with the ability to stay focused, think deeply, critically, and imaginatively
• Strong sense of governance (eg, ISO27001, ITIL4, and GDPR)
• Use of AI to increase software testing productivity eg, test case generation
• Pensions-based domain knowledge an advantage
