    About the role

    We're looking for a progressive HR professional with a passion for helping to create and nurture engaged and self-motivated teams. This is a varied role combining employment law, strategic and practical responsibilities including organisational development, employee engagement, policies and procedures, team development and culture.

    Main Responsibilities

    Organisational change and policy development

    ● Take a leading role on organisational change and growth plans that may be required to meet our strategy.

    ● Embrace change and support employees in navigating transitions.

    ● Develop and implement HR policies that align with our culture whilst providing robust legal compliance.

    ● Ensure that policies provide a balance of employee autonomy and accountability.

    Team development and training

    ● Identify and address skill gaps within the organisation.

    ● Design and implement team performance systems that encourage continual learning, personal and professional development.

    ● Design and facilitate training programmes, and ways of working that foster shared purpose and team-wide contribution to our goals.

    ● Lead by example, making time to listen, supporting the team to develop new skills, and providing opportunities to reflect and learn from mistakes.

    ● Provide support for team leads in coaching their teams.

    ● Act as a mediator and facilitator in conflict resolution.

    Recruitment and onboarding

    ● Design and implement recruitment processes that attract talented colleagues that will thrive in our collaborative working environment.

    ● Design and implement onboarding processes that help new colleagues integrate into the culture.

    ● Lead on practical recruitment tasks including:

    ○ promoting vacancies

    ○ arranging and participating in interviews

    ○ obtaining references

    ○ sending out offer letters and contracts

    ● Facilitate inductions and wider onboarding process.

    ● Managing applications and recruitment processes for work experience and internships.

    ● Supporting scheduling work experience and internships.

    Foster a culture of supportive leadership across the team

    ● Design systems, tools and practises to support the development of a culture that values and promotes self-management.

    ● Embody the values and purpose of GN Law, ensuring a clear focus on our clients at all times.

    ● Contributing to and supporting the implementation of the GN Law strategy that will guide work across the firm for the long term, while putting in place milestones and action plans to measure progress over the shorter term.

    ● Making diversity, equality and inclusion an integral aspect of our work and ways of working.

    ● Fostering a positive work environment that promotes wellbeing and where everyone can prosper,

    ● Design and oversee a great internal communications platform that promotes transparent communication across all levels of the organisation.

    ● Foster a working culture of open communication and collaboration

    Day-to-day HR administration

    Handle employment related tasks including:

    ● Requests for unpaid leave and sabbaticals

    ● Requests for flexible working

    ● Maternity/parental leave

    ● Changes to contracts e.g. becoming a supervisor/associate

    ● Managing holiday and holiday entitlement

    ● Arranging interviews

    ● Organising staff well-being events

    Person Specification

    Essential: -

    ● Educated to degree level or equivalent or Work experience demonstrating this level of ability.

    ● Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.

    ● A strong understanding of equality of opportunity and diversity issues and the ability to apply this in practice

    Strong organisational skills.

    ● Strong communication and presentation skills.

    ● Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a diplomatic manner using professional judgement.

    ● Good analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to apply employment legislation through HR policies and procedures.

    ● Good knowledge of and ability to use all relevant social media platforms.

    ● Excellent team player.

    ● Understands the need for strict confidentiality and the need to follow internal policies and procedures.

    ● Be adaptable and flexible in responding to the evolving needs of the business.

    Desirable: -

    ● CIPD qualification.

    ● 3 years' experience of working within an HR function.

    ● 3 years' experience of providing advice and support on HR policies/procedures.

    ● Experience of working within a law firm.

    ● Familiar with contemporary co-creation, HR and internal communications tools (e.g, Slack, Miro etc.)

    ● Good knowledge of Office 365 to include Sharepoint and Forms - has worked in a environment that is paperless and based in the cloud.

    ● Interest in progressive organisational models and cultures.

    Employment terms

    Responsible to - The Directors

    Salary - £40,000-£45,000 pa depending on experience. Increases are subject to annual review and the GN Law pay policy.

    Pension - The post-holder will be enrolled automatically in the GN Law's pension scheme.

    Contract type - Permanent, subject to satisfactory completion of a 6-month probationary period.

    Hours - hours a week. We are open to applicants requesting flexible working options – these will be considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with our policy.

    Base - GN Law offices, Lodge Lane, North Finchley, London – hybrid working available.

    Annual leave - 25 days excluding public holidays. The leave year is 1 January-31 December and leave is calculated on a pro rata basis.

    Maternity / shared parental leave - We offer an enhanced package of maternity/shared parental pay.

    Notice period - Following successful completion of the probationary period, the appointment may be terminated by not less than 3 months' notice in writing by either side.
