    I am currently looking for an experienced Claims Advocate to join a forward thinking North American Property Team.

    Although this Role is within the North American Team my client would be willing to look at people with experience in other territories, however Binders experience is essential.

    Ideally looking for someone with 5-10 years experience within the London Market.
    Principal duties and responsibilitiesManaging ResourcesAssisting the Claims Manager in managing team resources and quality control of all team activities.

    Delegating and supervising work to be undertaken by claims staff to ensure consistency of quality and serviceProviding advice, support and guidance to other team members.

    Managing own workload and time, to maximise efficiency and ensure that deadlines and targets are metUndertaking ongoing communication with claims colleagues, accounts and other divisions to ensure timely and accurate production of documentation and maintenance of systems and recordsProviding advice and guidance, and sharing of knowledge and expertise, within own division and across the GroupRelationship ManagementContinuing to develop and maintain relationships with peers, senior management and colleagues both within own DivisionManaging and developing relationships with underwriters, adjusters, attorneys, clients, and industry peersActively participating in regular team discussions/updatesBusiness OperationsOverseeing and completing production of new claims files and ensuring they are completed in line with defined standardsReviewing and assessing more complex claims anticipating any potential issues/queries and deciding on action requiredReviewing claims received and providing feedback to placing Brokers to minimise future issues arisingProviding Underwriters with an informed précis of claimAnswering complex questions from Underwriters quickly and accuratelyNegotiating with underwriters, attorneys and clients on complex claimsChallenging underwriters, where appropriate, on comments using knowledge of claim and previous experienceReviewing and assessing Underwriters comments and making informed decisionsOverseeing the receiving of settlements within agreed timescaleExpanding knowledge of policies and their implications.

    Reconciling funds and accounts, investigating any discrepancies that ariseProducing accurate and quality correspondence, filtering information to ensure relevance to receiverProviding regular feedback to Claims Manager on portfolio of claims, current status and market conditions and their possible implicationsSupervising and checking work produced by team members and providing feedback where appropriateAttending client meetings as appropriateTimely and efficient problem resolution using broad experience gained and escalating contentious issues/complex claims to Claims Manager or Head of Division as appropriateEnsuring the team's compliance with FCA Guidelines and Group rules and procedures, including maintaining accurate recordsUndertaking general office administrative duties as and when requiredUsing market knowledge to justify loss reserves set by Third Parties on certain claims.

    Market EnvironmentProactively expanding and maintaining awareness of market, industry and business class through networking, client/market meetings, attending conferences/briefings and reading appropriate articles/publicationsRecording Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

    • Understanding and being sensitive to current market dynamicsTechnical CompetenceKnowledge and understanding of the general insurance market and principles relating to casualty, PI and property classes of businessUnderstanding of London market structure, practices, processes and procedures including systems and relevant documentationKnowledge and understanding of London market claims practices, processes and procedures including systems and relevant documentationKnowledge and understanding of North American PI claims businessKnowledge and understanding of insurance accounting systems including clients, underwriters, third party and brokerage accounts
