Business Development Manager (Bridges)

This is a nationwide role, due to continued business growth, our client is recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join our growing Sales Team. Due to continued business growth, they are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager for their Bridges and Structures sector to join a growing team of industry leading technical authorities, chartered engineers, experienced project managers and technicians.

Play a vital role in our success. Our Client prioritises relationships with customers, and as a Business Development Manager, you'll be at the forefront of securing profitable schemes in the UK Bridges sector (Aged and New Civil Infrastructure). You'll oversee a pipeline of opportunities generated from existing clients and schemes, collaborating closely with Business Development and Delivery teams to identify and pursue contract renewal and variation opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

Cultivating enduring strategic client relationships within the UK Bridges sector.
Conducting strategic customer visits to acquire new accounts and nurture existing ones.
Leading our Business Development team in crafting technical proposals and bids, ensuring competitive bids at profitable levels.
Collaborating with the Delivery team for seamless project handover, drawing lessons from past projects.
Working with internal teams such as Business Development, Operations, Product Development, and Software to estimate scheme costs.
Preparing technical and commercial proposals for customers, liaising with core supplier networks as needed.
Reviewing proposals prepared by peers.
Ensuring technical approval for proposals and reports as necessary.
Maintaining up-to-date progress on all relevant opportunities in the database.
Prioritizing opportunities in line with company strategy, consulting with Business Development and Commercial leadership.
Proactively gathering and reporting market intelligence on competitors, market changes, and technical standards.

What Experience Do You Need?

An engineering degree or equivalent, preferably progressing towards a Chartered or Incorporated qualification
Experience in structural monitoring, technical and/or commercial (desirable)
Experience related to the UK rail or bridge community (desirable)
Strong teamwork skills
Previous IT proficiency (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, willingness to learn new apps)
This is an office-based role, preferably located in our Bristol office, though Warrington is also considered, with occasional visits to other company and client offices.
A full UK Driving license
