    Group Tax Manager (projects)

    Next is looking to recruit a Manager within the Group Tax function, which sits within the wider Group Finance department, located at our Head office in Enderby, Leicestershire. The role will work closely with the Head of Tax and wider tax and finance teams to work on tax projects, reporting to the Head of Tax.

    Key responsibilities:

  • Working with our indirect tax team to undertake a critical review of VAT processes for the group to ensure best practice is maintained and operating procedures are up to date. Identify areas for improvement, develop a project plan for resolution and proactively manage/ coordinate teams to implement required changes
  • Identify areas where technology could be applied, provide recommendations for changes to approach and work with teams to implement
  • Assisting with the tax aspects of the group's finance modernisation project
  • Working closely with tax and finance teams to enhance the collection and analysis of data for tax filings across all areas of tax
  • Supporting Head of Tax to manage Group tax risks and governance framework including SAO, CCO, tax policy and other country specific initiatives around the world
  • Supporting the team with ad hoc tax matters as required

    • Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified CTA or equivalent (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.) with relevant experience 5+ years PQE
  • The ability to meet deadlines, solve problems with strong analytical skills with detail orientation
  • Strong technical ability to review new legislation and ascertain the potential impact of any changes on the group
  • Understanding of retail tax issues is useful but not essential
  • Comfortable dealing with employees of all levels (including Directors and Heads of Departments)
  • Proactive, ambitious and having excellent business partnering skills
  • Ability to articulate complex legislation to a non-tax audience
