    About the role

    Working as the Head of Research at LaingBuisson offers the opportunity to become a leading and respected voice in healthcare. With a track record as a subject matter expert and supported by a team of research and data analysts, your ability to explain data-driven insights, healthcare trends and regulatory policy with clarity and precision will support our clients and the wider industry understand real-life business concerns.

    As Head of Research, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development and creation of LaingBuisson's industry leading market reports. Your creative thinking, attention to detail, and strong communication skills will contribute to the successful interpretation of quantitative data into compelling narratives. The role offers a chance to manage a team, build out your network, and play a key role in shaping the narrative of healthcare market insights.

    This opportunity would suit a dynamic, motivated and adaptable individual looking to develop evidence-led narratives to improve understanding in the healthcare sector. You may already have an understanding of healthcare, preferably with knowledge of the independent healthcare sector, and be proactive in building out existing networks in order to deepen the calibre of our insights.

    Existing sector experience is preferable, but we will consider any candidates who are demonstrably keen for a new challenge and excited by the prospect of becoming a leading voice on healthcare issues. We would expect the successful candidate to be comfortable managing their own workload, as well as being able to delegate to make best use of an existing team.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • To represent LaingBuisson as the Head of Research, with a specific focus of expertise on the healthcare sector
    • To oversee content production across LaingBuisson's market reports portfolio
    • To act as Lead Author on a range of LaingBuisson's reports
    • To provide line management to the Research Team, and work with the Research Projects Manager on workload and task allocation, and ways to develop expertise and capabilities across the team
    • To work with the Research Project Manager to ensure key research deliverables are achieved within agreed deadlines and ensuring that all content is delivered on time and within scope.
    • To have a strong understanding of data gathering and analysis, ideally within the healthcare sector
    • To be able to scope, develop and lead in-depth research on health and social care topics
    • To work closely with external stakeholders and internal teams to gather insights and ensure content accuracy, and to proactively explore opportunities to develop partnerships that would strengthen LaingBuisson's content and brand in the sector.
    • To work closely with the Director of Research & Content to ensure delivery of business objectives and to inform strategy and new product development
    • To represent LaingBuisson at external events, and to be comfortable presenting content at these forums, and in client meetings, where appropriate
    • To build out a network of external stakeholder contacts for your personal development and to support the ability of LaingBuisson to draw down qualitative insights from key sector voices
    • To take an active role in the continuous improvement of LaingBuisson's product and services by identifying ways f working more effectively and more efficiently
    • To work flexibly across the organisation to support the delivery of LaingBuisson business objectives, particularly as they relate to the healthcare sector
    • To undertake other duties as necessary commensurate to a role of this level and nature.

    Requirements and desirable experience:

    • Demonstrable experience of healthcare sector knowledge and/or report writing in related fields
    • Proven experience in content creation, writing, editing and delivery
    • Proven experience in working with quantitative and/or qualitative data and analysis
    • Line management and/or matrix management experience
    • Strong communication skills, both in one-to-one and group environments
    • Ability to work autonomously or as part of a small team
    • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
    • Detail-oriented with excellent project management skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively in a small and growing team environment.
    • Proactive and up for the challenge of finding new and improved approaches

    Location & Working Pattern:

    Location and working pattern can be discussed. However, there is an expectation that travel to the London office and attendance at events (predominately in London) will be required as part of the role.
