- Develop and deploy competency matrices for industrial positions.
- Facilitate the identification of jobs/tasks requiring qualification.
- Establish the subsidiary's annual training plan.
- Lead the development and validation of support and training material together with subject matter experts and operational teams.
- Lead the identification and selection of internal and external trainers.
- Develop and document effective approaches to ensure operational teams can easily access information, resources and guidance to ensure competency of their teams.
- Monitor and report on the development of competency maturity across the industrial activities
- Active communication with operational teams, other support departments, business teams and external providers.
- Present proposals and information to stakeholders and the steering committee to gain awareness, understanding and support.
- Develop performance indicators for evaluation and monitoring of the competency process.
- Have a flexible approach to work in line with business demands.
- Master's or Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject - Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Human Resource).
- Industrial management and/or HR background in training and competency.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail are required.
- Demonstrable ability to cooperate with others with effective interpersonal skills.
- IT skills - working knowledge PCs and associated software.
- Effective Communication skills in order to be able to understand other needs.
- Continuous Improvement principles.
- A proactive thinker with a structured approach and attention to detail.
- Able to develop and maintain internal and external networks.
- Ability to influence and motivate with a good level of emotional intelligence.

The role will operate from our site in Coleshill, Birmingham. It houses the central UK teams for Project Engineering, Health & Safety, Logistics, Bulk Maintenance and Technical Support as well as key industrial activities including an Air Separation Unit producing 200 Tonnes/day of liquid Oxygen, Nitrogen and Argon, Packaged Gas Filling and a Workshop for cryogenic trailer maintenance and bulk tank preparation. The IMS and Technical team work closely within the wider Operations team focussing on driving Safety, Quality and Operational Excellence and providing Technical leadership across the organisation and all operational functions.Working as part of the industrial operations IMS & Technical team the role will support the development of the competence management process in Air Liquide UK with an objective to train employees engaged in industrial operations on their jobs and Health & Safety aspects and evaluate the acquisition of the required knowledge.
