    Consultant Psychiatrist in CAMHS - Durham
    Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust

    This is an exciting opportunity for a child andadolescent consultant psychiatrist to become involved in transformation andleadership within a forward looking CAMHS service.

    Durham Tees Valley Child and Adolescent Mental HealthServices work with children and young people up to the age of 18 across GettingHelp, Getting More help and neurodevelopmental assessment teams.

    Generic teamsare closely linked with LD CAMHS, Eating Disorders and Forensic CAMHS.

    The outof hours activity is supported by dedicated CAMHS crisis team, which operateson 24/7 basis and provides extended crisis input as well as home treatmentoptions as an alternative to hospital admissions.

    The North Durham CAMH service is a community, out-patientspecialist Getting More Help CAMHS team, supported by a Getting Help Servicewhich works into schools and with young people with mild/moderate mental healthdifficulties.

    It serves the Durham City,Consett and Chester-le-Street populations (180,000 all ages population withapproximately 25% being under 18 years).

    Children and Young people in the area are supported by a range ofinternal and external getting advice, getting help and getting risk supportmental health services.

    In addition, there are a range of local authorityeducation and social care support services.

    The post holder is expected tooffer mental health assessment, psychiatric opinions, diagnosis and holisticcare plans for patients up to the age of 18, referred to them in hours and whenon call.

    this is for a full-time consultant, but exactfigures can vary, depending upon the type of work undertaken, in agreement injob planning.

    The Trust has severalperson-centred pathways of care developed specifically for young people and thepost holder would generally be expected to follow these.

    Clinical work would be expectedto be carried out predominantly within the clinical base at the Rosewood Centrein Middlesbrough but may occur within other settings for example a young personmay have strong feelings about being seen in an alternative community settingor it may be more appropriate to see a young person at their school.

    There willalso be infrequent occasions when young people need to be seen in othersettings such as the acute hospital, police station or a residential placement.

    We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby.

    We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire.

    We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

    We deliver our services by working in partnership with eight local authorities and clinical commissioning groups, a wide range of voluntary organisations, as well as service users, their carers and the public.

    Psychiatrists are essentialcontributors to the majority of our mental health teams. Our medicalstaffing shortage puts strain on services and puts strain on workforcewellbeing and costs extend beyond the financial.

    Academic Skills & Lifelong Learning

    Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training Participated in continuous professional development Participated in research or service evaluation.

    Able to plan and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training relevant to this post Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.

    MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
    Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
    MRCPsych or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
    Excellent knowledge in specialty Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills in English Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
