    Description

    Job Description:

    We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Swale and Maidstone to assist with the appointment of a Housing Accountant, on a 2- month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration. Responsibilities:
    • Run & reconcile weekly reports period end reports, arrear report, prepayments for current and former residents, debit run.
    • Check weekly that new tenancies, tenancy ends, tenancy changes are on the debit run report and check a sample of rent accounts to make sure the debit has hit their account.
    • Accurately reconciling control accounts.
    • Proactively liaising with the Rents and Income team in identifying and resolving suspense items and other anomalies on rent accounts.
    • Make proposals around potential write off with the housing team for approval by Head of Housing then Finance Director (appropriate governance).
    • Ensure Weekly Rent reconciliation and Weekly Closedowns are completed.
    Qualifications:
    • A good level of general education including 5 x A*-C GCSE or equivalent and a specific aptitude for Maths, English, and I.T.
    • Relevant equivalent experience in Rent accounting and having worked in a Local Government or Housing Association.
    • Prior experience of working in financial and housing environment, preferably within a local government or housing association setting.
    • Proven experience of effective team working.
    • Extensive experience working in a Microsoft-based business environment.
    • A proven track record of effectively managing demanding workloads and problem solving.
