    Ensuring the Company and its employees adopt safe working practices in compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental legislation and best practice.

    • Establishing and maintaining a safe culture and upholding the reputation of Astrea Bioseparations Ltd at both Isle of Man and other sites.
    • Keeping abreast of health , safety and environmental legislation and best practices
    • Developing and implementing HSE policy for the Company operations aligned with corporate strategy.
    • Working in collaboration with other company managers to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Delivering SMART HSE training across Astrea sites.
    • Ensuring preservation and protection of: People (employees, customer and public), manufacturing capabilities and the company (in general) through safe working practices and procedures.
    • Responsible for the management of HSE documentation and compliance with HSE policies, procedures and working practices.
    • Develop and maintain professional gravitas, establishing oneself as the in -house expert.
    • Represent the Company to external bodies.
    • Management of site waste levels (including TFS and effluent plant efficiency management)
    • Administration of the site disaster recovery plan.
    Principle Responsibilities
    • Policies and procedures. In conjunction with members of the senior management team develop and implement health and safety policies and safe working procedures/practices.
    • Safety Training. Conduct ongoing safety training for all employees and ensure that new employees receive induction training.
    • Safety Reviews. Conduct health and safety audits/inspections to ensure Company HSE procedures are followed and health, safety & environment equipment is properly maintained.
    • Major incidents. Develop action plans in the event of a major incident and coordinate with company managers and local authorities as required; contribute on H&S matters to Company Disaster Recovery plans. Administer the disaster recovery plan to control and action site risks.
    • Accident Investigation. In the event of any accident or injury conduct an investigation of the incident, seeking the root cause. Report your findings to the senior management team (and RIDDOR if applicable) and recommend improvements (if any) to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Documentation. Ensure HSE related training records, risk assessments, accident reports and other documents are completed and stored properly.
    • Safety Meetings. Conduct HSE meetings at both Isle of Man and other sites (if required). Give staff members the opportunity to provide input on HSE issues. Make sure health & safety information is up to date, accurate and available to all members of staff.
    • Identify health & safety legislation applicable to the company, make recommendations as to how such legislation should be incorporated into company policy and implement appropriate action in collaboration with company managers.
    • Fire Safety. Appointment and training of fire wardens; planning, performance and recording of fire drills; ensuring adequate signage and identification of escape routes; maintenance of fire monitoring/alarm systems and firefighting/fire suppression equipment; ensuring conformance with applicable fire safety regulations including DSEAR, ATEX & COMAH.
    • First Aid. - Ensure the appointment and training of first aiders; maintenance of first aid boxes and first aid equipment (including eye wash stations, and safety showers).
    • Occupation health. Focusing on the health of the employees, perform regular assessments of the work environment/conditions and ensure adequate controls are in place.
    • Hazardous Materials. Ensure the company has adequate procedures and training for the identification, storage, handling, use and disposal of hazardous materials (COSHH, REACH).
    • Hazardous Waste. Management of site waste levels (including TFS and effluent plant efficiency management), minimisation of waste, identification of economical disposal practices. Ensure proper completion, distribution, and retention of documentation.
    • Other related duties/responsibilities as required or assigned by the supervisor.
    Qualifications:
    • NEBOSH International diploma in occupational health and safety
    • Substantial relevant experience in a similar or highly regulated industry
    • Experience of working across multi sites and Global HSE regulations is highlydesirable (OSHA)
    Other Requirements:

    Working Conditions:
    • Office and Manufacturing
    • Occasional travel to other Astrea sites
    Physical Requirements:
    • Physical agility required to carry out site observations and inspections.
    • Possible long periods of desk work, such as report writing.
