    Job summary

    An opportunity has arisen for a senior specialist physiotherapist with proven clinical skills to join the physiotherapy team at INPUT PainManagement Programme. An exciting and challenging role with an opportunity to make a direct positive impact on patient experience within 'll have the opportunity to develop your skills in clinical pain management work in the multidisciplinary team and have input across the entirepathway. The role is primarily pain management group working. The post would be suitable for therapists with a wide range of clinical experiencewithin Pain Management.Successful candidates will have the opportunity to be a part of a creative and innovative team and involved in development of new services to bestsupport this complex patient will have had experience in holistic pain management and rehabilitation completing advanced assessment and evidence of an interest indeveloping further in this area. An excellent listener and communicator you will demonstrate a desire to work creatively to provide effectivehealthcare and bring about innovative service developmentThe post is supported by Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and Physiotherapy Lead and a member of the wider Band 7 and 8 physiotherapy andINPUT multidisciplinary is an opportunity to join a great team and environment where you are enabled to develop. The successful candidate would be required towork at St Thomas site.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful applicant will be responsible for providing physiotherapy guidance, support and treatment within the INPUT department, providingsupport for residential and virtual pain management programs, individual pain management and assessment clinics, multidisciplinary meetingseducation, training and service part of a wider MDT, the role requires the ability to communicate with all disciplines Directorate Managers, Consultants, Registrars, Nurses,administrative colleagues other AHP colleagues and community services.Candidates must be flexible to the needs of the service and have excellent communication skills. Listening, reflecting and being attentive to theneeds of each unique individual is core to good team strong commitment to supporting the development of pain management skills across professional groups as well as at undergraduate andpost-graduate levels. An interest in research is desirable.

    Job responsibilities

    To provide commitment to work as part of the physiotherapy and wider multidisciplinary team (including psychologists, occupational therapists,consultants and nurses) working in the care of people living with long term chronic pain conditions. As a member of the Multidisciplinary Team youwill provide a high standard of holistic physiotherapy care for people who present with chronic take a lead role in the advanced assessment for patients living with chronic pain. Taking into consideration medical problems multi-pathologyand psycho-social factors including those who have highly complex presentations, to determine optimal treatment pathways and to maintainassociated records, as an autonomous practitioner. You will work closely with colleagues and patients to plan treatment will primarily be involved in delivering physiotherapy in a group based pain management programme , using Acceptance and commitmenttherapy as part of a MDT to support patients improve quality of life with pain . It will require coordination between professionals, creativity andflexibility in your take a role in supervision and teaching of physiotherapists / physiotherapy assistants / students and MDT staff in physiotherapeutic care ofpatients with chronic pain and long terms condition be a team player and be responsible for individual case load, team support and development, implementation of policy and policy changes inown clinical area, and to set and monitor standards of supervise, initiate and participate in evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and to lead in departmentalresearch and audit in their clinical area

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Experience at Band 7 level or equivalent in pain management and rehabilitation
  • Skilled in the management of patients living with chronic conditions
  • Experience of teaching in a clinical setting; including physiotherapists and the wider MDTer MDT
  • Interest and experience of practice in psychologically informed physiotherapy approaches
  • Experience in facilitating patient groups
  • Desirable

  • Experience of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Previous experience at Band 7 level
  • Education / Qualifications

    Essential

  • Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Attendance at Post graduate course and relevant CPD training
  • HPCP registration
  • CPD including evidence of reflective practice
  • Desirable

  • Recognised MSC in relevant subject or equivalent level of post graduate specialist training course
  • Post graduate course(s) in pain management and relevant topics
  • Membership of and interest in professional groups
  • Skills

    Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of a wide range of approaches to the holistic management of complex patients and those with chronic conditions, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning and reflective practice skills
  • Significant experience of working as an integral member of physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of service development / evaluation, audit / change management
  • Able to present information, written, orally, in a clear and logical manner
  • Experience of group work
  • Desirable

  • Knowledge of current national policies and standards and initiatives in chronic pain management
  • Advanced IT skills eg excel spreadsheet functions, word document editing and report writing
