BBC News, Sport and Weather mobile apps are used and trusted by over 12 million people and we're looking for a Test Team Lead who is passionate about testing, as well as developing people. As a Test Team Lead you will lead the testers embedded in the engineering teams to deliver a world class mobile experience.
An intuitive and engaging product experience is integral to the audience's enjoyment of the rich content that we offer and the sense of value that they get from the BBC.

The ideal candidate would be someone who excels in people management and engagement, values communication, and collaborative approaches in finding the right solution, is willing and excited to learn new skills, and to share their knowledge with others. You will have a real opportunity to influence the future of mobile at the BBC.

Reporting to the Test Manager and working with others in the Test Leadership group, you will be responsible for recruiting, managing, leading, setting direction and co-ordinating test across a group of product test teams or a programme of work. You will also be responsible for managing, coaching, and mentoring direct line reports by supporting and helping them to develop their strengths and invest in their talents.

We are self-organising and highly collaborative teams of engineers, testers, UX designers, technical architects, and product owners. We value our people, offer regular training and development opportunities, as well as '10% time' - allowing dedicated time for self-improvement, learning and innovation. We take the time to reflect and improve on how we're working via team retrospectives and mentoring. We're hard-working, supportive, care about each other, and promote a healthy work-life balance with opportunities for flexible working hours, in a friendly and inclusive working environment.

    • Expertise in agile software development methodologies including behaviour and test-driven development.

    • Expertise in problem solving and providing creative solutions.

    • Good written and spoken communications skills; comfortable engaging at all levels in the organization.
