    Head of Finance and Operations

    Our client aims to establish a partnership of up to 7 schools, bound by shared values and committed to securing outstanding outcomes for children and young people in all of its schools.

    Through a phased approach to growth, the trust will develop a teaching and learning community in which excellent teachers and staff aspire to work and learn.

    The Trust currently comprises two strong performing schools situated in Bracknell, Berkshire.

    The Trust was formed in 2017 and is built upon a commitment to enabling all children, young people and staff to thrive.

    In the pursuit of excellence, those who join their family of schools share a desire to work in genuine partnership with one another to shape and develop a teaching and learning community which provides first class opportunities for all.

    Under the direction of the CEO and the Board of Trustees, the Head of Finance and Operations has responsibility for the effective and efficient running of all aspects of the Trusts' finances.

    They would like their new Head of Finance and Operations to play a part in the next phase of the Trust's growth and development.

    The Head of Finance and Operations is required
    To be appropriately qualified and experienced, possessing accountancy qualifications from a recognised professional body, such as the ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA
    To work closely with the CEO (also known as the Accounting Officer), to manage the Trust's finances properly and effectively
    To work in partnership with headteachers and other academy leaders, to strategically lead and manage the Trust's financial resources
    To lead a team of finance managers and officers to oversee all financial matters
    To ensure the trust achieves value for money in accordance with its Funding Agreement, Education and Skills Funding Agency guidelines and the principles of spending public money wisely
    To prepare spending plans and budgets, to assure trustees of the long-term viability of the Trust and help it to achieve its strategic goals
    To prepare accounts, supporting external auditors and ensuring internal audit
    To ensure the Trust submits financial returns and other information required by official bodies
    Professional accountancy qualification and/or relevant business degree
    Management of large budgets and associated financial management systems
    Experience of robust, regulated financial reporting
    Experience of leading a finance team
    Experience and understanding of risk management, particularly in relation to finance
    Familiarity with computerised accounting software
    Experience of effective management change projects
    Financial management within an educational setting
    Experience of building and other capital projects
