If you're a hands-on go-getter motivated to get the job done, whatever it takes, then this Transport Operations Manager role is for youOverview:As Speedel's Transport Operations Manager, you'll be a key player in ensuring the smooth flow of goods across our network.

    This is a highly hands-on role, and you'll be expected to lead a dedicated team, overseeing all aspects of our transport operations while fostering a culture of safety, high performance, and continuous improvement.


    Duties:


    Lead, coach, and develop the team to achieve operational excellencePlan, manage, and adjust staffing levels to meet targets and service level agreements (SLAs) for our clients.

    Oversee the daily throughput of customer orders, ensuring on-time and high-quality deliveriesProcess, monitor, and update bookings received via Speedel's internal system, telephone and email through to completion.

    Cultivate strong client relationships, exceeding expectations for service and communication with Speedel's clientele.

    Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives to optimise profitabilityGuarantee adherence to Speedel's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies, and all relevant safety regulations.

    Manage disciplinary and grievance issues in accordance with Speedel's HR policies, fostering a positive and secure work environment.
    Conduct performance reviews, implement development plans for your team, and plan for team succession within Speedel's operations.

    Compile operational data and generate reports to track performanceTake ownership and lead the team in achieving operational standards while meeting customer requirementsManage daily communication and build strong relationships with Speedel's diverse customer base.

    Support the sales manager to build a quality pipeline for new business opportunitiesRequirements:
    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a transport operations management role, ideally within a global logistics environment.
    Proven track record of leading and motivating teams to achieve results in a fast-paced logistics setting.

    Strong people management skills to deal with the range of day-to-day employee issues, as well as coach and facilitate the on-going development of employees.

    Customer-centric approach with evidence of a strong customer service ethic and proven ability to drive improved customer focus through teams.

    The ability to manage budgets effectively and run a commercially profitable operationExcellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressureAbility to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and be fully flexible to support Speedel's operations during unsociable hours, weekends, and as required.

    A "get the job done" attitude and a strong motivation to overcome challenges.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transport management software (a plus).A strong commitment to safety, compliance, and upholding Speedel's high standards.
