Research Associate in Modelling Network Data (ESRC)

Project - A Relational Approach to Serious Violence and Co-Offending funded by the ESRC

The overall research aim is to enhance our understanding of the role of networks in the emergence and continuity of violence. The project will leverage large-scale police records to reconstruct networks of cooperation and violence victimisation and identify mechanisms underpinning both phenomena. Fixed term: the funds for this post are available for 15 months in the first instance.

As a Research Associate working on this project, you would independently carry out quantitative network modelling on large-scale datasets. Strong quantitative skills in network analysis are therefore an essential requirement. To excel in this position, you will have strong programming skills, advanced network modelling expertise, and a strong background in quantitative/computational methods. Previous experience of studying crime-related themes, including violence is desirable but not essential.

Appointment at Research Associate level is dependent on having a PhD. Those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at Research Assistant level, which will be amended to Research Associate once the PhD has been awarded.

    Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £29,605 - £33,966 Research Associate: £36,024 - £44,263
