    If you are looking for an interesting and varied position and would like to work as part of a friendly and busy team this could be the position you are looking are recruiting a Receptionist to join the team in the Acute Medicine Business Unit. You will help to improve the patient's experience and quality of care within the Medical Assessment Unit and the Medical Same Day Emergency should have the ability to interact with patients and staff on a daily basis in an efficient and friendly way and stay calm in any must be motivated, with good communication, inter-personal and administration Acute Medicine Business unit is committed to developing and enhancing skills that you currently possess and will offer you the opportunity to gain further skills via a range of training courses designed to suit your own needs.

    Main duties of the job

    You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within the Medical Assessment Unit providing a comprehensive front line receptionist/administrative service on a 24 hour service rotation.

    This post involves booking in patients, transferring, discharging and answering enquiries from patients, relatives and staff.

    You will be responsible for processing patient details to create and maintain the patient's record whilst they are on the ward.

    The role is based within the busy, clinical environment of the Medical Assessment Unit. You will be required to assist with the mentoring of new PPAs to the department

    Medical Same Day Emergency Care

    To provide an efficient, effective and friendly reception service to patients and visitors attending the ward/unit, facilitating the delivery of a patient focused service in accordance with Trust and Division requirements. To provide a comprehensive clerical and administrative support, maintaining high standards within the working environment.

    Job responsibilities

    Provide an effective face to face/telephone reception service usingverbal and written communication to liaise with patients, relatives, staff,wards/units, directorates and external agencies/people to support thedelivery of an efficient patient service.

    Register patients on arrival, ensuring all demographic and episodedetails are recorded on the patient administration system.

    To use patient administration system and other Trust Applicationsrequired supporting the patients pathway. Duties include checking andupdating patient lists and using IT systems to accurately log alladmissions, transfers and discharges.

    Arrange outpatient clinic appointments for patients where appropriate arrange ambulance transport for patients.

    Responsible for dealing with all queries, either via telephone or face toface promptly and efficiently to ensure that an accurate and qualityinformation service is provided to the multi disciplinary team, patientsand their relatives.

    Complete administration tasks, and undertake any typing as required, Diagnostic reports ensuring continuity of service is maintained including filing, photocopying, faxing, fault reporting, completion of theadmission/discharge book, GP and clinic letters, arrangement of patientfollow up appointments, ensuring tests/investigations are correctlycompleted.

    Takes responsibility to ensure on a daily basis all discharges arecompleted on the appropriate system in a timely fashion.

    Administration support for Sister/Nurse-in-Charge/Senior Clinician maybe required.

    Order and maintain ward supplies as necessary and in accordance withTrust policies.
