    Description

    This is a great opportunity for an Indirect Tax specialist to join the international HQ of an international banking group and play a pivotal role in managing all matters related to their global indirect taxes.

    Your responsibilities will include providing comprehensive indirect tax advice to the front office in London, overseeing compliance processes as well as implementing best practices in tax risk management.


    The core focus of the role will be on the indirect tax issues affecting their commodities business - they trade in precious metals and energy, as well as having a vaulting business and so prior experience to related indirect tax issues such as intermediation, refinery, delivery, warehousing, customs/duties would be advantageous.


    Key responsibilites:
    Provide technical support and advice on all indirect taxes relevant to products and transactions.

    Collaborate with external advisors and challenge their advice when necessary.

    Review and provide indirect tax sign-off for new product and transaction proposals.

    Implement best practice indirect tax risk management processes.


    Coordination of external service providers in overseas jurisdictions to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of all indirect tax compliance obligations globally.

    Actively manage and oversee indirect tax compliance processes for UK operations (eg. Monthly VAT return, annual adjustments, capital goods scheme) with the assistance of one direct report.

    Manage VAT accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.

    Undertake ad-hoc advisory and project work as required.

    You will need to have significant indirect tax experience, with specific exposure to commodities VAT a real advantage. This could have been gained in a professional services firm, banking group or energy / trading company.

    It is anticipated that you will need to be tax or accounting qualified (ACA/CTA or equivalent) with the requisite experience to take the lead in driving forward the global indirect tax agenda.

    In addition a strong understanding of risk and control frameworks and related processes and technologies would be advantageous.
