    Deputy Finance Business Partner - Operational Finance
    We have an exciting opportunity in our fantastic Operational Finance team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust (UHD).

    As a Band 7 Deputy Finance Business Partner supporting the Associate Director of Finance, Surgical Care Group portfolio, you will help lead a team under the direction of the Finance Business Partner.

    The role will support delivery of sound financial management and support to a wide range of services including the provision of expert financial support to a number of exciting change projects associated with the New Hospital Program reconfiguration of services.

    The Surgical Care Group portfolio is both diverse and dynamic and we are looking for a candidate who is keen to develop a career in NHS finance.

    The successful candidate will be working as part of a committed team and should be able to demonstrate the desire to work in NHS Finance, the ability to work in a team and to deadlines, prioritising workload and able to communicate well to non-finance colleagues.

    Hybrid remote working as agreed with the Finance Business Partner.

    UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.

    This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Qualified (CCAB) or finalist studying towards qualification or significant NHS finance experience at this grade
    Evidenced continuous professional development record
    Knowledge and understanding of International Accounting Standards and their application
    Highly developed and demonstrable knowledge of management accounting and accounting procedures within the NHS
    Understanding of the Payment by Results (PbR) tariff system and its application within an NHS Foundation Trust
    Significant experience of working within an NHS Foundation trust(s)
    Significant experience in the use of E-Financials software packages
    Significant experience in the use of Business objects
    Experience of modelling the financial impact of service pathway redesign
    Experience in the use of PLICS costing software
    Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, required to design new and/or improve existing financial monitoring systems
    Expert analytical skills to solve highly complex financial and non-financial problems
    Computer literate with experience of using Microsoft office applications
    Ability to interpret highly complex information, including national financial policies
    Ability to manage extensive data sets, and detailed financial information
    Clear, demonstrable understanding of statutory and other financial responsibilities
    This will include senior managers within the Trust and external stakeholders
    Sound, demonstrable knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
    Detailed understanding of the NHS agenda and knowledge of NHS financial framework
    Knowledge of NHS financial and accounting procedures in relation to the portfolio
    Ability to interpret highly complex information, including national financial policies

    Ability to communicate sensitive/ contentious financial information in a clear and persuasive way. This will include communication with people with non-financial backgrounds.
    Ability to lead a team of fellow professionals and to adopt a collaborative approach both within the Finance function and across UHD
    Ability to forge and maintain constructive relationships with senior managers and to constructively challenge and hold to account in relation to financial decision making and subsequent consequences
    Able to communicate sensitive/ contentious financial information in a clear and persuasive way
    Political astuteness to understand the business, political and economic context in which discussions are taking place

    Language requirement
    Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role

    Qualified (CCAB) or finalist studying towards qualification or significant NHS finance experience at this grade
