    Are you a Legal Director, Head of Legal Practice or a Legal Operations Director and looking for a new challenge?

    Due to the successful growth of Markel Law we have created a new role for a business leader who, reporting to the Claims & Legal Services Director, will work closely with the firm's partners to oversee the strategic, operational and day to day development of the Markel Law business.

    We have an excellent opportunity for a Head of Legal Practice (Partner) to join our team at Markel Law in our Manchester office.

    We will consider our Leeds office with some weekly travel to Manchester included.

    Markel Law LLP (Markel Law) is an independent SRA authorised and regulated legal business offering services to both insured and non-insured clients.

    Our clients and business partners comprise businesses, high net worth individuals, and associations across a broad spectrum of industries. Our legal teams guide, support, defend and protect clients through a wide range of key legal services.
    Work with the Claims & Legal Services Director in the development of the firm's strategic vision and long-term goals
    Take ownership of, implement and drive forward initiatives that support the form's strategic vision
    Provide leadership and guidance to the Partners and management team in alignment with the firm's values and objectives
    Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure the highest levels of client-centric service delivery


    Financial Management:
    Work closely with the finance team, manage the firm's financial performance and budget
    Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimisation
    Build unparalleled linkup between Markel Law and Markel the insurer
    Enhance the firm's reputation and brand within the insurance and legal community
    Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Partners and senior leaders
    Foster a culture of excellence and customer-centric service
    The ability to manage technical specialists without necessarily having that technical specialism / legal experience is not essential as would look at a CFO or COO applicant
    A background working in legal, accounting, insurance or professional services as a Managing Director, Head of Operations, COO or Financial Director
    A demonstrable ability to lead and manage senior individuals
    Significant experience in driving a business towards its long term goals
